You don't have to really do anything. Just be of the older group on the boards. There are some veterans who are just 18 all the way up and up. Maybe check out this thread to get a better Idea of what its all about and why there is a veterans forum.

Vets is primarily for the older members as the description on the board header states. However we have posters in here under that age woh just feel more comfortable surrounded by older loonies. Its got nothing to do with how long you have been a member.
Basically Vets is a state of mind. Theres people over 18 who dont post in here and feel more comfortable posting elsewhere.
If you feel comfortable and can relate then you are a vet or a vets board user.
Its a smaller board than many of the others and therefore people tend to know eachother a little better. However this does not mean that its a closed shop or a clique. Things just move a little slower in here and all are welcome but it takes time for us to get to know you in the same way as it takes for you to get to know us.
If you like it in here then try to post. Join in with the silliness or hand out a few hugs in support. The more you post the more we can get to know you and the easier the integration. The same goes for the rest of the site and isnt primarily a Vets thing.
You are more than welcome to stay.

And i'm one of them  I feel more comfortable with the slow, steady pace of vets with a more mature and quirky(?) sense of humour. (:
