Triggering (SI/ED) - Uni- Terrified may trig.
I know there's other posts about uni in here but I felt bad hijacking someone elses post.
I go to uni in just over a week and am terrified, I terrified of all the usual things like not making friends ect but I know that it will be make or break with my eating.
I've met girls in my flat and they seem nice but they like to get drunk, this kinda scares me because I know that my SI usually is worse when it happens after I've been drinking, and honestly I'm a control freak I don't like being drunk and loosing control.
I've found out my course also involves loads on brain and behaviour and nutrition which logically I should have worked out.
I'll stop rambling now, I guess Im looking for reassurance. Sorry

Uni will be ok sweetie. Where are you going to if you don't mind me asking?
I was petrified before starting uni last year but it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. If you go in expecting the worst it will be 100 times worst. The other students probably have their own concerns and even if you don't hit it off with your flatmates there are always societies etc you can make friends in.
Have you looked into the support schemes at your uni? They are often really good at just being there to talk etc.

I know Uni is scary but everyone is in the same boat, and most of them will be just as scared as you are. It's good that you have met the girls in your flat but don't feel pressured to get drunk, you will be able to find other friends that don't want to get drunk all the time. I hope it goes well *hug*

hello :) im going to uni in just under 2 weeks. very similar to you. i dont often drink due to the exact same reasoning as you xx i know this doesn't help, but perhaps it will be re-assuring to know that you are not alone in this xxx

being on the verge of finishing uni, i can honestly tell you that i have only been properly tipsy once! (though that doesnt mean i dont go out have a drink and have fun - i just have 2 or 3 or very max 4 drinks)
i hate losing control and from past experiences, i also found i was worse if id had a certain amount to drink so i have an unusually reluctant approach to alcohol consumption (in my attempt at controlling the whole SH thing)- and you know what!? no one has thought any less of me for it. I made loads of great friends and had a great time!
Just do what you feel is best for you and if someone does tease you for it - and not in a playful way - forget about them, theyre not worth it if they think whether you drink or not defines how they see you.
It's not worth investing your time and energy - and health - into a group of friends who only have fun when drunk and who judge you based on that.
I hope it all works out though :) It can be very daunting but give yourself a week or two and i have no doubt that you'll settle in nicely.. Its a massive bonus if the people you're living with are nice so thats really good!
if you need anything else, feel free to ask and i'll try my best to help you out :)

How are you feeling towards it now.
Maybe you could write out a list of all your negative feelings towards uni and all your postive ones and see how it compares. then work on focusing on the postive things and expanding the list.

Am going to do medical physiology in East Midlands, hopefully to transfer to Medicine cause I didnt get the grades as my dad had a double braing haemorrage at the start of my exams. (inconsiderate, i know bless him)
I wanted to see uni as a fresh start so i purposely didnt look into support as I was hoping without the direct pressure things would improve.
I don't know, I've got myself into a stress now
