Lofepramine
Hi all!
I've just been prescribed Lofepramine by my psych, and to be perfectly honest I've never heard of it before! So I've been trying to do some research on side-effects and am not finding any good links. I usually use the crazy-meds website, but it isn't on there.
I'd quite like to hear other people's experiences on it. Most specifically, did it make you gain a noticeable amount of weight? Some websites list this as a side-effect, other's don't.
And also did it kill your sex-drive as a lot of antidepressants are prone to do?
Thanks

Lofepramine was the best AD I tried, it didn't do anything, and only side-effect was heart-burn. They taste nice though, cherry flavour tablets! I didn't notice any effect on weight or sex drive. I hope you have sucess with them. I found that most people hadn't heard of them. I tried them because I had negative experiences with SSRIs.

I'd never heard of it before, but a quick search of wikipedia told me it's a tricyclic antidepressant with anxiolytic properties (treats symptoms of anxiety). Side effects including "Drowsiness, dry mouth, heartbeat irregularities, sweating, low blood pressure, constipation, blurred vision palpatations, dizziness and urinary retention. Can cause confusion in elderly patients or behavioural disturbance in the young. May produce weight gain or cause changes in the levels of blood sugar. Some patients report muscular discomfort, particularly in the shoulders."

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

Oh yes, I remember, I had an achy shoulder with it. Very strange side effect, and very strange that it specifically mentions shoulders!

Thanks quatia, it's useful to know at least it didn't have any negative side effects(well excepting the achey shoulder!)
And thanks for the paragraph control freak. See what's confusing me is wiki say's weight gain is a side effect, some other sites mention weight loss and other's don't mention weight at all. Same with sex drives, some say it has a negative effect, but then I even found one site with one guy saying it had solved his sexual problems, its all very contradictory and confusing!
