First off. Isn't the watershed at nine in the evening? Its half eight and theres already a warning of 'Full-frontal-nudity'.
Secondly, theres a whole section on the sex-habits of teenagers, mostly including the types of pornography they watch.
Now call me paranoid, but with the proposed bans and legislation that come through in 2009. Wouldn't such a programme catch the attention of Parents, gathering support for whats coming in 2009?
Sorry it sounds like a rant but i'm getting sick of this nanny-state.
"A cigarette is the perfect type of a perfect pleasure. It is exquisite, and it leaves one unsatisfied. What more can one want?"
"The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to Die at any time"
yeh agree's with crumple, ive only turned over about 10mins ago... but i think its main aim is educational purposes and maybe they feel that teenages that be watching it so put it on earlier.
i think if it was put on after 9 it would be seen more as a pervy esq type thing which isnt the aim.
i think there are 2 many regulations about the silliest things....concentrate on whats important!!
also they will get away because before show and after ad breaks they made sure they warned people before they "had" to watch it
this pic is so i can always remember jen who was my l'il sock monkey friend who has left ryl and i miss her!!!
i think one of the main reasons to so much nudity was to emphasize the fact that people, teenage upwards are getting a wrong impression of what the human body looks like through porn sites/magazines etc. so this was to give the more "normal" view of the human body.
was this the first one? from the looks of next wk i dont think there should be so much nudity, altho maybe a lot of pics of what STI's can do to the body.

are you kidding?
the programme was informative to a lot of people, i'm sure.
it's people like you that reinforce the negative attitude towards sex in this country.
If it teaches kids what normality is, if it stops unprotected sex it's perfectly acceptable.
It's done in the best taste that can be. It has warned people that nudity will be present, and hey i'm sure it will help many adults too.
I agree with the O.P
I dont think it should be on before the watershed.
YOUNG kids are still up then, and i'm sure the target audience which is teenagers will still see it at nine
yeah, but the program was called sex education.. its not hard to figure out what would be on it, parents should just have turned it off if they've got younger kids.
^ indeed. you dont have to watch it cos it is on!! there are enough other channels, admittidly there wasnt much on yesterday but even so there is an off button.
there were enough warnings about what it contained. im actually quite looking forward to next wk. hey might learn something :)

channel four advertised it as educational, but it was more of an entertainment show.
the presenter was lovely and funny, but she was presenting something for the purposes of entertainment, even comedy.
there was no real theme to the show - part of it was on the look of naked people, part of it was to do with porn, part of it was tantric sex, part of it was aimed at adults who want to enjoy better sex and part aimed at adults who want to screen their kids from porn.
imo, channel four could have made this SO much better. but the thought was there.
and also, parents should have control over what their kids watch anyway. so it is before the watershed, they did give about a million warnings. approximately.
I agree with the people saying if parents didn't want their young children seeing it, they should turn it off/change the channel. My daughter was already in bed when it was on (but she's really little - still a toddler).
I thought it was very imformative. I think it's a good thing to see a 'normal' body. that's good education and it does a lot to help people with their own body image.
I wish I'd seen something like this when I was a teenager, because if I know what a 'normal' body looked like, I might not have been so hard on my own.
I think this programme was really good. The nudity wasn't lewd or gross, it was there to be informative and it was. I can't see this being "bad" for children to see either; the nudity wasn't in a sexual reference (ie during a film of intercourse) and most children - even young children - are educated in girls being different to boys etc, this was a living diagram, that's all.
The language wasn't perhaps the most tactful, but things were discussed in a respectful mannor and was in the field of knowledge rather than the equivelent of lads in a pub discussing sex in a pub.
I think education is so incrediably important, especially when you see how this country is doing; without education, Jeremy Kyle will be in business for years! That said, how can someone object to a programme like sex education, where you can find graphic descriptions of sex on Jeremy Kyle, graphic images of dismembered bodies on ER and soaps airing well before sex education was aired?!

My heart just needs his smile, that i can't forget, like so melancholy a kiss.
I didn't see much of it but thought it was very helpful, I learnt quite a lot. It's far easier to watch a show like that by yourself than it is to have to discuss it with a teacher in school.
I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.
Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.
I love this programme, I learnt a lot of things I didn't know before and my 11 year old brother got permission from my mum to watch it so he learnt about penises and stuff, that he hadn't already asked. He said it was helpful because when he got a bit older he didn't have to worry about his willy not being too big or too small.
It's completely and utterly fine.
It's educational.
People need to learn about safe sex.
are you kidding?
the programme was informative to a lot of people, i'm sure.

agreed.
there was nothing inapropriate about any of it, it wasn't like you saw porn stars or people having sex.
I'm sure most kids have seen themselves, familys and friends naked at some point. There's nothing "inappropriate" about nudity, when it's in an educational context.
Hunger only for a taste of justice, hunger only for a world of truth, for all that you have is your soul.
I wish I'd seen it.
I think it sounds interesting.
I think I'm pretty well informed about the subject matter but I still think I could probably learn something.
I'd have no problem with my (nearly) 12 year old brother watching it either if my mum agreed.
