Abilify/Aripiprazole - experiences?

So as of tomorrow I'm starting on 5mg of this. I realise meds affect people differently and I've I read up on it but I was just wondering what other people's experiences of it were.

i was on abilify and i didn't like it - it prevented mood swings but made me depressed all the time and i gained weight.
but, i was also put on it by a quack doctor. ive heard it helped other people just fine.

my life is null and void.

i was on aripiprizole for about 1 year/18 months on a dose of 20mg/day and i got on really well with it, i was on it cos my voices were strong and while for the first few weeks while they built up the dose there wasn't much difference, once i was up at 20mg the voices got quieter and then went away, i found it really worked for me... i hope it works for you xx

I actually had a bad experience with abilify. I had a dystonic reaction to it where my eyes kept rolling back in my head and all the muscles in my face and neck became tight and eventually stiff. This slowly worked down the entire left side of my body. I ended up in the hospital ER having to get a series of shots, they did help make it go away but it was an awful experience. I didn't tell you this to scare you I just wanted you to be aware incase you start to feel any of these symptoms. I hope that this medication is the one that helps you.

Everything is alright in the end...

I'm only 15mg of it, I tried to get up to 20mg but I got HORRIBLE akathisia. I was in a constant state of panic during classes, because I was trying to fight the akathisia. Not the smartest thing to do. Back down to 15mg as of now. It works so well though! The remaining paranoia I had is gone, and I feel like a completely new person. It's also helped a great deal with my depression, I know some people say it caused depression, but for me it's the oppsite. I love Abilify. (NOTE: I'm on 4 other medications so it could be the combination of all mine as opposed to the single medication.)
