Username change?

I want to access chat, so I requested my user name to be changed, just by taking out ~ those things... but this came up

Rule Violation: The username that you have submitted violates one of the Username Rules that the administrator has specified.

I haven't ever changed my user name before.. and i know it hasn't been taken...

I'm confused.

That's odd.

With my mod powers I can see any username changes, and new username requests, etc, and it doesn't say that the new username you've chosen has actually been rejected.

Perhaps give it a couple of days if you can, see if the username is changed anyway, and if it's not perhaps send in the request again & see what happens.
