So I was talking to my friend about childbirth, and she was REALLY excited about having a child naturally. She was 100% adamant that it was the right thing to do, and she would have it no other way.
Her: I'm having my babies naturally... It's so wrong any other way.
Me: You do know what happens, right?
Her: Of course.
Me: [With generous hand gestures and body movements and facial expressions] You get your VAGINA RIPPED OPEN!!! By the shoulders of some poor kid that you are slowly, painfully tearing and ripping into the world! RIPPING your vagina APART!
Mr. Doherty: Benji, thats enough.
Her: Oh, it's not THAT bad.
Me: Maybe you didnt hear me. Your vagina gets ripped open. Not nicely, either. With blood and that yukky stuff that babies are born in.
And we argued well on into the rest of the maths lesson in much the same way, with me pointing out the more painful, less pleasant side of having your vagina ripped open.
Maybe my opinion doesnt count because I am, in fact, a guy... But if I had a vagina, i'd much rather lie around in hospital for an extra week or two from a caesarian than have it ripped open.
Why are females so insistent on having a child naturally?
...Apart from the fact that you can't drive for 6 months after a C-section, I guess it's a lot more personal.
Like, you know when you put that extra effort into a project and the end result is amazing? Same sort of concept I guess. And also, with a C-section, you don't get to see OR feel your child being born, it's a lot less engaging in that sense.
I don't know. With gas and air/an epidural, birth can be alright. And not all women rip when they give birth, but most poop and wee themselves. Heh.

My friend had an emergency c-section and got permission to drive 2 weeks later. but i had a friend who was bed ridden becasue of complication with her c-section for 8 weeks.... and yeah. I dunno lol

A c-section is major abdominal surgery; a "natural" birth doesn't usually have so many complications; as for ripping your vagina apart (well, not yours personally, seeing as you appear to be male..), most women experience a graze or a tear, no biggie.

I saw my mother give birth to my brother..or rather her push for five hours before they rushed her for an emergency c-section. Totally ruined her body.
Nice form of birth control for me though.
I think Ill be just fine with adopting aha.
Ughhh. The whole process of childbirth is nauseating to me, so I'm totally with you, Benjibum. In the unlikely event that I ever have kids, they're going to be adopted!
its not always all that bad.. like ppl have said, most of the time its just a general tear or what not. im not sure what id prefer. id like to wait till ive experienced both and then decide :P but what is wrong with some mums preferring a natural birth? and i agree with what amy said, it is more engaging with a natural birth, i reckon anyway :) but coz ive never experience either i shall shut up :)
my sister gave birth natural, with just gas and air.
There were no rips, or anything, she didnt crap herself, she did really well actually, bearing in mind shes only 18 and built like a stick, and it was her first one.
She had him at midnight and went home at midday the next day.
I guess child birth is different for everyone,pain wise and complication wise and what not.
plus, i guess people want it to be natural cos the pain is worth what you get at the end, and in a lot of cases, you can just carry on as normal, you dont have to sorry about picking up your child cos of stitches and what not for weeks afterwards.

Cause i'm hoping to do midwifery at uni and a midwife i talked to recently told me that everyone poo's during pregnancy just most people aren't told they have!
That's the only bit i'm worried about when i give birth! Embarrassment!

ha, thanks... he's 7 months old now, hes the most gorgeous thing ever.
Yeah, me and my mum were the birthing partners.. i managed to get the gory end, with all the blood and the naked lady parts and such. whilst my mum got all the forehead mopping and hand holding.
not good times.
ALSO... when her waters broke, not all of them broke, the second lot didnt break until about half an hour before he was born, and she was pushing by then, so it went with such force, it splashed accross the room and up the wall.
