Hi. Just thought I'd let you know that you're not alone. I hear voices too, and they really get to me.
I'm only 18 but there are people on this board that are your sort of age and are still self-harming.
You're not alone.
*Hugs*

Hi andy, i'm new hear too, i had SI when i was 14/15, stopped then recently started again 10 years later. I am sooooo angry with myself and really ashamed, my husband invariably found out and although thinks i'm a nut job and doesn't understand he has encouraged me into councilling. It isn't a magic cure but it does help to finally talk about it and talk about all the **** that goes on in life. I haven't told any friends and i too am terrified of work finding out coz my career would be over so i understand where you're coming from.
I don't know everything thats going on with you but i would encourage you to get some help like councilling which can be annonymous and therefore feels safe. I've also found this site a great place to vent and get support ands its a place where you fit in and you're not alone.
If you need anything feel free to message me x hugs x

Hi Andy, I'm 42 and started SI when I was 14 or 15.

I think of the "voices" being my disease, my insecurities. Sometimes I can ignore them, sometimes not. Sometimes I do what I have to in spite of them.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I understand. We understand. Let us help you and of course you can chip in too!

In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

Hello Andy, I'm new here too, I'm 28 and have been cutting since I was 11.
I understand how you feel and just wanted to let you know you're not alone.

Hi Andy, welcome to RYL. I have been here for a couple of months (so fairly new) but the site has been really helpful in providing support, answering questions and in making me realise that this is not just my problem.

Hopefully you will find the same.

Hi I'm Hayley, I'm 27 and been SI'in on and off since I was 13. My longest spell free was nearly 4years, so i know how it feels to think you've put it all behind you and then feel like such a freak and failure when you start again and that just makes it worse. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, I don't hear voices, just my own voice never shuts up inside my head, so I can't offer any real advice on that front, maybe people on the mental health disscussions board would know a bit more? But here in veterans, everyone is great. I've only been here a few months, but its been a life line to me. I've had a few slip ups the past few months after being 8months free, and I honestly think that without this place to vent and be given hugs I would have completely relapsed. I hope you make yourself at home here and get the help and support that you need during this tough time.
