in like a pale colour or getting a manicure, cause this is gonna sound kinda icky but also it discrouages you from cutting cause you don't want to get your nails all dirty

Sometimes, like if I get triggered while I'm driving, I rest my wrist on the stick shift because it vibrates and for whatever reason, it kinda sooths me.
If I'm not doing that, I get busy do something. Usually cooking or baking. Since I started recovering, there's been a pretty much constant output of cakes and cookies and other things from my kitchen. Or I do my crafting, which takes some time. Or I find something to research.

I have a list of reasions to not cut to try to motivate me and convince myself that it's better if I don't give in. I also have a few poems I read that give me hope and calm me down.

Or I light an incense stick, open a window and just breathe in really deeply, that helps alot sometimes.

When I was in hospital they gave me a sheet to fill in about SI saying the short and long term consequences of it and how it makes me feel, before, during and after. Made me think more about the bad side of it when I wanted to do anything and sometimes helped me not do it, you could try that?
Also I think going for walks somewhere pretty with your MP3 is great :)

I draw on my skin, no place im particular and nothing specific, I just draw complicated designs. I covered my entire arm once, and half my leg. It gives that skin contact without the injury and it can take your mind off it. Just make sure you have a good pen, runing out of ink can be very frustrating....
