Ok so I'm renting a flat (living on my own)
Was working full time as a security officer at airport but had bad episode of depression and had 6 months off work. Couldn't go back to security work as it involves searching people's bags/bodies for anything dangerous or SHARP (Not good for self-harmer to be given sharp items and be expected to put in bins). So I've been temporarily placed in office doing admin work. They have given me till October to find a permanent job at airport or they will terminate my contract and I'll be out of work. On basic pay now as it is.
Lease on flat runs out next month. Wanted to move out because parking is nightmare/crap electric heater which is really expensive over winter months/recently found carpet beetles in flat and massive beetle (looked like cockroach) on front door step. But I can't afford any other flats in my area.
Phoned CAB today and they said I would be classed as voluntary homeless and there is little help I could receive because I'm currently working full time (even though it's temporary)
So by October i could be unemployed and homeless.
Finding this all a big worry. Hate not knowing what will happen. Cutting a lot, not eating properly and still not taking meds regularly like I should be.
Can anyone give me advice? Has anyone been in similar situation? Sorry this post is so long :( Probably being an idiot and worrying over nothing. Sorry

I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to let you know that I read your post and I'm sorry you're in such a bad situation. *hugs* Maybe a job/apt. will come through before October, it's still a good ways off.
Who can attest that when they're at their best
Oh their worst is still crouching close behind
It's coming to peace with the darkness in me

I have problems with employment too. I'm currently self employed cause I am not a team player. What I'm trying to say is that I see and that I understand. *hugs*
My husband is my best friend.
In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.
I'm not sure where they stand legally with this, as you need adjustments to your job to accommodate your depression etc. This comes under the disability discrimination act. So, really, they should help you to find an appropriate alternative job. The issues that resulted in your transfer haven't changed so the company have a responsibility.
Have you spoken to the Human Resources Department? What about Occupational Health?
I have spoken to HR, Occy Health and my line manager. They all say the same. At the end of 3 months if I haven't found myself a permenant position within the company they can and will terminate my contract. Even if a job comes up I still have to have interview and compete against others who will be better qualified then me.

I have app. with GP next week so I'll ask her. In letter from work it says that the Disability Discrimination Act does not oblige the company to create new roles or invent work on a temporary or permanent basis. One thing is for sure - my confidence is at rock bottom and if I'm honest I'm just not good enough to work there. No job is gonna want to employ an unmotivated, depressed, incapable and insecure woman who has visable scars. I wouldn't pick me in an interview! What am I actually doing? I wake up every day, wishing I hadn't. What is the point struggling along in life, constantly trying to reach happiness but never achieving it. My mum tells me I am just wasting my life away - the reality is I am just wishing my life would end. :(

This must be awful :(
I know how bad it feels to be unmotivated, depressed, insecure...I wasted an important year of my life before anyone picked it up (granted it was only GCSEs...but my college application depended on it)
I know what I'm going to say may sound stupid or impossible but is there no way you can fight back? I agree that them not helping doesnt sound right or legal.
Try everything possible.
They cant do this to you.
*hugs*

with my job, when my contract (temp) runs out at the end of this month i have to have another interview and application against people who will prolly have more qulifications than me. but my manager said i'm guarenteed the job because i've done and am doing just a good job. maybe another job would be a better idea? doesn't sound like your happy anyways!
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
In a huge place like an airport there must be plenty of suitable jobs, without them creating anything new!
I understand what it's like to feel depressed, unmotivated, insecure... my managers flow with it, because they know that it's due to my illness, and that on good days I am an excellent employee. I agree that it's important to work somewhere where you're valued, and your illness is accepted. Interviews and everything can be really daunting at the best of times. Definitely speak with your GP. Mind [mind.org.uk] offer advocacy and other services which you might find helpful too.

Hey most people have already said the things i was gonna but i just wanted to let you know that i read too and that you have all our support.im sorry your in such a difficult situation and quite frankly that your employers havent been more helpful!i just want to say there will be something out there for you or even in the airport if you really want to stay there [though i would question if it would be good for you to stay given how they have treated you/made you feel though that is only my opinion and you must decide for yourself what you want.]But there will definitely be something! And i mean it when i say that. And i know you dont feel it right now but well done for being so strong. You have been/are going through a lot.i really hope you will look after yourself as best you can.You really can come through this.Oh and good luck with the GP too!Best wishes.
i do not always manage to be around but i wish you all the very best - love and luck to you all!
Am really sorry that ur having to go through all this just now,
As ur mentioning CAB i assume that ur somewhere either in Scotland or England, with the situation being as it is, i would seriously consider asking ur dr to sign u off work and claim incapacity benefit, before ur madfe any worse by this situation, u will then qualify for help with ur housing/council tax costs, so yeah that would be my best advice go and talk to ur dr about it! If ur dr signs u off then u won't be regarded as voluntarily out of work! I know there's a lot of abuse out there but from what uv been saying i think in ur case it could well be a wise move
Incapacity benefit is there for a reason, and I think you need to use it. You've been paying taxes so you should get some benefit from it. Talk to your GP about it.
Is there any friends or family you could live with for a little while in Oct? Even for a week or so until you can find somewhere to live?
As for employers taking on people with visible scars, mine are, and I got a new job almost a year ago. The interview took place and I was in short sleeves, so they could see the new scars (bright red) I had. They still took me on, so I think that part of your post was some of your insecurity.
And how about trying to apply for the police force? You don't have to be an officer, you can be support staff doing anything from admin, to grounds maintenance, to intelligence/investigation, to HR, finance, training, IT etc.
(I work for them as support staff, and love it! And can highly recommend it!)
You can try Bluejobs.co.uk (I think that's what its called - a police jobs web site).
or Monster.co.uk
I think chat to your GP first about signing you off work.
But also - you can get a job that you feel good doing. I have, so it can happen for you too.
Good luck

There is my old room at my mum's house but her partner who lives there is horrible. He's not violent towards us which I am grateful for but when I used to live there he would ignore me all the time. Never spoke to me. Would complain about me to my mum and get her to tell me off. I could never watch sky t.v. because he paid for it. He'd only put his plate in dishwasher after dinner - despite the fact that I would clear his plate. If I left my room to get a drink he would go in there and switch off the t.v. and lights. Lots of little things. I just don't think I could put up with that again. The only other option is my sister. She's offered me her sofa but they have a 17month old daughter and my sister is 7months pregnant and they only have a small house so would be too stressful for her.
I'll let you know what the gp says on tuesday
Thanx for support and advice XxX
