Can't pretend anymore..

Why does everyone think that if you are "older" you must have learned to handle your depression?? They've stopped looking for the warning signs. Many days I just don't think I can keep on pretending I'm "ok". Society really sucks sometimes. And no, people around me, those new scars aren't from the cat/etc! I'm tired...

I don't know why people think that you can better handle depression with age. Sure, you're probably less impulsive than a teenager, but it doesn't make the symptoms easier to bear. It's possibly tougher, with the expectation that you keep all your adult responsibilities and be strong for those around you. Depression is tough to deal with at any age. *hugs*

Who can attest that when they're at their best
Oh their worst is still crouching close behind
It's coming to peace with the darkness in me
That allows the true light to shine inside

That, my friend, is a question that I ask myself all the time.
It sucks don't it?
*hugs*
you are not alone.

We're all in the same game;
Just different levels.
Dealing with the same hell;
Just different demons.

Depression doesn't have anything to do with age. I agree with flippinterp.

Talk to us. We understand. Welcome to Vets and to RYL.

My husband is my best friend.

In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.
