Rusty and I took the dog for a walk down the park just now, but before we'd been there long, a kid came running over, very upset and shaken and asked if we could call the police for him. Turns out him and his 12 year old sister had been beaten up, her worse than him by the looks of it. She'd been pushed to the ground and kicked in the face by a group of about 8 older kids.

I felt really sorry for them - at one point while Rusty was on the phone to the police, the gang re-appeared and they were really scared. I assured them that they'd be fine while they were stood next to Rusty (and I could always bash people with my crutches lol).

The police turned up and drove them home, and then 3 police came to search the park just as we were leaving. We described the gang we'd seen, and the kids had given them a couple of names, so fingers crossed they'll catch the little buggers.
The sad thing is, Rusty pointed out that in today's society some people may not have stopped to help them, not wanted to get involved. I'm glad we were there, because the park was empty of adults other than us. They seemed like nice kids too.

That's very good of you to stand by them :)

Grrrr people make me sick. But I can understand people would be scared to stick around...it's just such a hard thing to make a split second descision on...do you stay and possinly put yourself at risk or do you walk on by....?

thats horrible :( and i think rusty is right sadly, i have known people who have been beaten up and people have just carried on walking. i can understand it but its still sad. my bro was in town at 10am one day, he was having chemo at the time so had no hair and was on crutches and this guy attacked him for no reason and headbutted him. you would think someone would have helped but he had to go into a hotel for help. i was nearly crying when i saw him, because of the drugs he was on his blood wasnt clotting well and his lip was so massive he could hardly talk. why would you do that to someone, especially someone who clearly has cancer and couldnt even run away as he was on crutches??

Raven, that's awful! Some people are just disgusting. Fortunately, Rusty is a big scary looking guy - 6 feet tall, big build with tons of piercings and tattoos - so the two kids were safe while we waited for the police to arrive!

Poor kids!!! I'm glad that you were there to help them!!!! poor things, and it's true that many people wouldn't have stopped to help them! some people suck though!

Thats good of you to call the police. It's amazing how many people are like "oh it's not my business" these days. Where I live people NEVER stop when someone is pulled over on the side of the road. I once got a flat tire in the middle of winter and not one single person stopped to see if we needed help. I eventually had to call boything, who I had been with for like 3 weeks at that point, away from christmas dinner with his mum to come and help me.

I think it's sad, and I always make a point to make sure someone doesn't need help. I wish more people were like that.

I don;t know. The police said they might be in touch so maybe. I hope they catch the little buggers
