What gets rid of your voices?
For those of you that hear a voice(s), what gets rid of them for you? Do you do specific things to get rid of them? Or do they just eventually stop on their own?

That's okay. My CPN has me trying things to get rid of it, but whereas I would sometimes simply listen to music, thats stopped working.

I've found that listening to music can help distract myself from listening to the Others.
As well as cleaning (which my boyfriend loves!) Simple things that don't need full concentration are good distractions for me. I re-write books (as in copy them word for word) and paint by numbers distracts me as well
But nothing fully stops them, distracting myself is the best coping mechanism I have of late.
I hope you're ok

It depends whether the voices are in my head or outside my head, if that makes sense. Also same with noises. If they're outside my head putting on music so loud it drowns it out (and that's bloody loud so not always possible) helps. Talking seems to help the spirits in my head's voices. But not always.

Haloperidol works best but I had to discontinue due to side-effects.
I usually blast my favourite metal on my headphones and go on the internet.
Also exercising really hard on the rowing machine helps.
And watching Red Dwarf because its funny can help.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

I am constantly (unsuccessfully) looking for ways to
make my voices stop.

This may not work for everyone, it kind of depends on what kind of voices you have. When mine really start going i feel kind of like I'm spinning a bit. and that is when the bad thoughts come into play. Sometimes it helps to shout out loud "shut the **** up you **** of *******!"
When that does not work, I try and help someone else. It works for me because I am able to focus on someone else and forget whet my head has been telling me. And it also puts whatever I was upset about into perspective.
Hope that makes sense.

my meds seem to be the only thing that helps me
(Olanzapine 17.5mg)
but listening to music or watching a movie sometimes helps
oh, and cleaning, basically anything loud to distract from my head
