Possibly Triggering - stopping

hey, so i really want to stop cutting and ive made the decision to actually go and get some help since i've been SH-free for 8 weeks! (longest ever). im just a bit nervous about it all, i guess actually facing the issue and having to talk about is whats worrying me, that probably sounds a bit stupid but i cant help it. so, anyway, i went to the doctor and he just gave me a number to call. the thing is, i'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect? i guess i'll be seeing a counsellor or something. i'm just really anxious about it all and an idea of what will happen will really help to calm me down about it all. thankyou. hope everyone's doing well, take care xxx

Congratulations for being sh free for so long and for going to get help, that is a huge achievment! I´m afraid I can´t answer your question, but I just wanted to say I´m proud of you for doing this (even though I don´t know you)! And also to say that it is perfectly understandable for you to be nervous and it does not sound stupid at all! I think you´re incredibly brave!

Take care and good luck!
I´m here if you want to talk!

As for what to expect when you call the number your doc gave you, I don't have a clue. But I did want to congratulate you on making it 8 weeks without self-harming. Deciding to stop is a tough decision to make, and a decision I constantly keep making. As hard as stopping is, it's worth it. Mostly, it's just the little things, like not worrying about what to wear to cover up fresh cuts. But it's worth it.

It's coming to peace with the darkness in me
That allows the true light to shine inside
