I've just had my second session with a Human Givens Counsellor. It's quite expensive, but it helps an awful lot. It's about £60 per session.
Human Givens Counselling is a new type of counselling that focuses on helping the individual to get better quickly, instead of normal counselling where painful memories are brought up and you are left feeling worse.
After two sessions, my cutting has decreased an awful lot - so much so, that I'm scared but quite happy at the same time, it's confusing - and the therapist has made a 'life plan' with me: things I can do to make myself feel better, even if they are only small changes.
She said to go into town today, and inquire around local charity shops to see if I could do some volunteering in one of them, at least to get myself out of the house for a couple of hours a day. She said this was the first step towards my new life.
I love HGC, it's making me feel slowly better and I truly believe that with a few more sessions, I will begin to sort my life out and be on the way towards recovery.
