So about two months ago I went into mental health to try to once again get services to see a therapist. This has been going on for 2 years now. Being denied because of my secondary insurance. They want me to use it first, however it requires a co-pay I can't afford. But my other insurance they do take, but they want me to use the medi-care first. So this last time I tell them screw the insurance, I want to sign up for a cash account. 72.00 a year or something like that. More affordable than 30.00 times 4 per month which is what I would be paying if I was paying myself for a therapist. Anyway, so they tell me they can bypass the medi-care and use the medi-cal. So I was stupid enough to believe them and let them do it. Two months later I get a phone call of course saying I was denied therapy services. Big surprise. The guy told me if I want therapy bad enough I will find the money. That I should rework my budget and maybe cancel my extra's such as internet, cable tv, get rid of my car and so on. Basically just have my apartment, food and electric. That's it so I can pay for therapy. He also told me if I tried to come into the hospital to seek treatment, he would block me from being admitted since he is now the directory of that as well. Basically he has told me unless I can afford therapy on my own, I can't have it. Not even through the hospital if I was suicidal, which I am, but I am not going to get into that. So I am on my own. I hadn't cut in over a month. Decided to say screw that. I am back to cutting pretty much daily to deal with all this. It's not enough that the hospitals screwed me up and did this crap to me, now they want my money too? I mean I have two kinds of insurance, I shouldn't have to be paying money. It's messed up. I keep getting told to get help, but where am I supposed to get it if I keep getting turned away? Everyone I call sends me back to mental health, who does nothing. I am tired of the run around.

I would sya.... go to legal aid (a lawyer) and find out what's going on here. They can't refuse you aid at the hospital under the mental health act (I don't know where you liev but i'm pretty sure that's the case in most places) and sue there asses. What a cocksucker!!!!!

I like in California. I have never had this kind of problem before. Nor have I heard of it before. You would think having two kinds of insurance that you would actually have MORE option, not less. I wrote out a letter about everything and sent it out to all the local news papers and new channels along with the governer of California. I am hoping to hear some reply from someone about it. I mean it's one thing to say I can't get a therapist, but to tell me I can't to to the hospital either is just bull. Not that I am a fan of being in hospitals of course. But still, to tell someone that you would block them, it's just mean....crule. I am hoping that the letters turn up some shread of help in finding a therapist.

send them to a bunch of law firms and see if someone would do i pro bono? WHat a load of bull. Also, write to the hospital and ask if they'll actually do that. If you have a letter form them (him) refusing you then ou have something to back it on. YO can't base stuff on hersay, it doesn't stand up in court. I just comes back to 'he says' 'she says' and they get icky. my bro is a lawyer and he's had a case like that before he got itno litigation.

I had sent a letter to the govener of California. I really didn't expect anything back. I was hoping, but I didn't expect anything. I was surprised when I got a reply back. They sent me a letter asking me to write a formal letter back with details about what exactly happened with name and address to investage the situation in detail. It's about time someone step in and help. So I hope to be hearing something soon about the situation and what they are going to do to help solve the problem. I mean for a county mental health office to refuse service just doesn't make sence, and I am sure has to be illigal. Just wanted to say thanks for listening to me come and vent about the situation. **hugs**
