yeh think this a really good thing hun, and very positive step!
i recently went to the gp, how i went about it was just went in and said that i wasnt happy, sleep affected, work/life affected.
they then asked me questions according to a depression scale thing they have, i wasnt very honest so they suggested i see how i go (i changed my contraceptive pill back to one i was on b4 as this seemed to have triggered my depression off 8-10months ago)
things just got worse and worse so i went back and was pretty honest apart from mentioning that i sh (altho she saw scars on thu so not sure whether she still so in the dark!!)
so i would def recommend that you tell them as much as poss, even if you have to do it in 2 appointments or write it down in and give them the letter or bullet points as suggested above. maybe all the things that have been affected in your life..... i.e things like fuzzy/cloudy brain, anxiety, od, insomnia, weight changes, sh, whether its affecting your social life..... etc
i am so glad i went ot the dr's cos now i feel like im actually getting somewhere. things arent fab but can get through most days without feeling like they are a permanent struggle.
good luck sweetie, can only be a good thing! dont give up either, if you dont get what you want out of that appointment make sure you go back whether it be to someone else or whatever but make sure you get the help you need and deserve! xxx

Hey just wanted to repeat the advice everyone else has given
I think writing down the problems that are bothering you in bullet points is a great idea, as is going to see your GP
Don't feel nervous about speaking to a doctor, I mean one of the most commonly prescribed things by GPs is anti-depressants. not that I'm saying you need anti-depressants what I'm saying is that GPs are used top people coming to see them about mental health issues and it really is a great idea to speak to your GP about any problems that are bothering you as your GP is the first point of call towards getting help for whatever mental health issues you have, good luck! When I usually go to the GP. I usually say " I have 4 things to say/looked at" and from then on the Gp usually prods me to talk about those 4 things. Just have a few key words that you want to talk about, and make sure you get what you want out of the appointment, otherwise you might feel a bit pissed off if you didn't get to talk about what you wanted to.
Otherwise I would advise you to write them down and give them to the GP. S/he may refer you to a mental health service to see if they can help with your self-harm urges and whatever else you need help with.
And don't feel ashamed of yourself if your scared of telling them, I'm sure the GP has heard of nealry every incident in the book.
Best wishes.

thanks for your support and advice guys, u dont know how much it means to me
i almost rang for an appointment today but i bottled out
i think a big problem for me is the gp i trusted, the one i went to when i was 15 and 18 for depression etc left at the end of last year. i have seen two other doctors there once because of meds but iv never told them anything and this really scares me...i know how stupid that sounds, but i have big issues with trust
i dont know how much i want to tell them if i go..
i had to leave therapy earlier this year cus they only worked with people upto 19. i didnt turn upto my last few sessions and hence i didnt get a refferal to the adult services cus they thought i was 'better' whereas in reality i wasnt, it was a mixture of me wanting my therapist to feel good for helping me get better and my feelings of abandonment that caused me to lie about how i was doing near the end and not turn upto my last few sessions
i dont know how to articulate what goes on in my head..
i just know i really need help and i dont know what to do
