Voices in my head

This only happens when I'm alone and it's quiet, but suddenly all this shouting starts in my head. It's a man, and he just shouts and shouts. It's really abrupt and makes me physically jump and look around for a source to the voice. It takes me a while to realise that it's actually all in my head. It has been happening since I was little, and it hasn't happened for a while, but it seems to be happening all the time at the moment. I'm really worried about this and don't want to tell anyone incase they think I've actually lost it. They won't believe me anyway. x

I'm sorry to hear this is so worrying to you, but I really think you should talk to someone about this.

voices can be caused by a lot of different things, and people will believe you if you tell them. Some people can live with the voices and find them a comfort in hard times. But as this is causing you some amount of distress I think it would be best to talk to your GP/ therepist (if you have one) about it.

Take care of yourself

Has anyone in 'real life' ever shouted at you like that?

I have 'internalised voices' from abuse I suffered, and can relate a lot to what you're experiencing. But, like Tormented says, there can be a number of causes of what you're experiencing, and it's best to talk it throuugh with someone who knows you, your other symptoms, and your history.

Aw, sweetie, no one will think you've lost it. And if they're actually causing your distress it's probably best to tell someone so that you ca get some help.
