hospital?
hello, my bf has persuaded me to see a doc on monday because my arms are a mess and i cant sleep. i dont really want to go because i did this last year and found it a waste of time. i dont like talking about it much. basically im woried that if i go they will tell me to go to hospital, does anyone think this is possible? the arm situation is quite bad, with some deep cuts btw

I what sense do you mean hospital?
In terms of A+E for the cuts, I think it unlikely. Usually they can't apply steri strips/ stitches long after the initial injury because you could have already got infection in the wound. They'd be more likely to give you some antiseptic and then clean and dress your wounds at your doctors.
I also think it unlikely you will be sent to psychiatric hospital as well. Hospital is usualy used only as a last resort where you are considered too much of a danger to yourself to be left in the community, and usually they will explore all options they can to keep you at home first.
I think its really good your boyfriend is making you go to the doctors, as they will be able to treat your cuts and explore other options with you for treatment. Are you on medication? Do you see any counsellors/ psychologists/ mental health specialists? These are the sorts of things they will be able to offer you rather than hospital. I would imagine your lack of sleep is also making you feel worse, so they may be able to give you something to help settle it down.
You obviously has a boyfriend who really cares for you and wants you to be well supported. Would it help if he went with you to the doctors? What do you think would be useful for you?

I would think they'd rather offer counselling and/or medication as a first line of treatment. How do you get on with your doctor?

Maybe if you feel its the right time to go back and like Katherine said perhaps they give you medication again or refer you to counselling.
Seeing the doctor might be a brillant step forward!
