Mirtazapine
So... just starting my new course of anti-depressants. I was on Citalopram before but we just didn't agree so I am trying a different one as I didn't want to use another SSRI.
Has anyone here been on/is on Mirtazapine? I am just wondering what other peoples experiences of it are really. I know everyone is different and all that, but an overview isn't going to hurt. I am on 15mg at the moment, and will be slowing increasing to about 45mg or so (obviously this depends on reactions etc).
Thanks :)
Simon

I've been on it nearly 3 years, and it really helps me. I have had no problems with any side effects at all. No significant weight gain. No over sedativeness the next day.

I was on Mirtazapine last year, but stopped because it made me feel worse (my mood) and I felt hungry all the time, really.
But everyone is different - as you say. I wish you luck with it and hope it helps :) take care xx

Obv meds are different for everyone
but this was the only anti-depressant thats worked for me
The first week or two your on it you'll just eat and sleep really but it wears off as time goes on, I found it's really helped me (I'm on 30mg, started on 15mg)
Be careful with what you eat when you start off on it tho
I put on 2 stone because I ate nothing but junk, so try to eat healthy snacks if your hungry

It made me really sleepy so make sure you take it at a time where it isn't going to be so problematic for you to feel that way. I hope it helps. Take care.

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

I'm the same as you, I was on Citalopram for a while but have now been on Mirtazapine since December. I started on 15mg a day and found that it made me very sleepy, I'm now on 30mg a day and although it still makes me sleepy, it's more sedating at a lower dose.
I think it's made me put on weight. I've put on half a stone in the last couple of months :(

Hi i was on mirtazapine for about 4months (45 mgs ) but ended up having to stop it as it put my anxiety levels thro the roof . However I am now back on it at 15mgs to combat my venlafaxine induced insomnia . Its the best drug ever for helping you sleep !!
