virus protector?

which one is good in your opinion?
I don't want the internet one, I just want one that will clear the shitty ones I have on this dying laptop and just protect it, as they do.
So yeah I know about norton and mcafee etc, but just tell me what you think about them?
I need to buy one asap.

thanks. :)

I have had both norton and McAfee.... Norton messed up my system and i lost quite a lot of work because it somehow corrupted my start-up file and having to reinstall my whole system... while McAfee came in its shining armor and protected my system better than Norton ever did. End of story. McAfee is better, more secure, and overall better. McAfee FTW

AVG will clear your system of any viruses and will keep you protected. It's the best one out there and it's free.

McAfee is what I use on my desktop, while I use AVG 7 free edition on my laptop (haven't upgraded to 8 as it won't let me install it >_<)

My advice would be to stay away from norton like the plague.... Its easily the worst security system ever, and AVG free edition is much better. If you are prepared to shell out the money for a full anti-virus, I wouldn't recommend McAfee... While it works fine for me, it's now considered one of the top of the range protection suites..... Still, it's your choice... have a look at reviews and see what you think

norton as said will mess with your computer and im hearing from alot of people mcafee is doing the same it has gone down the lines of norton making it harder to remove and stuff and messes with system files it reported to my dad that all the system32 files were viruses which it then went on to delete on its own

I just scan my files here before I run them, haven't got a virus yet, but I have NOD32 for backup.

if your using free kit, antivir has one of the highest detection rates out there, after that i would recommend Avast.

if your buying then its a choice of Kaspersky or NOD32

I have a signature!?!? really? where???

I got given Norton 360 when I bought my PC.
And It's not messed up once and I've been Virus free since the start.
