Possibly Triggering - do not press the big red button. *short text*
Do not press the big red button.
Or your life will change forever. You know, that big red shiny button, with self destruct written underneath it? Yeah, that’s the one. It won’t solve anything. You think it will, or if you’re desperate you will settle for a might, but it won’t. It will just give you another reason to hate yourself, another thing to criticise about yourself; cuts won’t be deep enough, overdoses not good enough, burns not painful enough, weight not low enough, bruises not dark enough. The list goes on, and on…and on. You’ve got that voice in your head, that voice begging telling shouting pleading daring screaming. Go on, push it, just this once, just once more. But it never is once. Because once you start, the thoughts never go. Yes, you can recover, and recovery is something truly incredible, but as almost everyone who is recovered will tell you, the idea never goes. It’s like riding a bicycle really, you may not do it for years, but you never quite forget how to. Except, a kid learning to ride bike is the picture of innocence. I kid picking up a blade to cut into themselves, well, that’s not. But society doesn’t talk about that so shhhhh; it’s our little secret, right? Right? … But what if its not? What if someone finds out? What if, one day, you’re sleeve rolls up and you don’t notice until you catch your best friend, with tears in there eyes staring at your arm. What if you come out the bathroom from that last-purge-which-is-no-where-near-your-last to find a father/mother/brother/sister/friend standing outside the door? What if your in the school/sports club changing rooms, and suddenly someone shouts out ‘what have you done to your arm?’ and sends your whole world crashing down around you in a shower of broken glass. But even if that broken glass shredded your skin, it could never properly visualise how you feel inside. But the damage is done, in more ways than one. The scars will never fade. It likely you will have them for the rest of your life. You can kiss goodbye to feeling comfortable teaching your kids how to swim, being able to go out in that sleeveless top or take your top of on a sweltering hot day. You can give up the idea of ever being able to socialise normally, because when out for a meal with friends, everyone will be watching you. Even if you didn’t catch them at it, you know they will have only just looked away. The damage is also done that your secrets out. It’s not your secret anymore. You can trust someone till the end of the earth, but there will always be that chance they might accidentally just let something…slip. And before you know it, the whole school knows. Well, even if it’s only 4/5 people, it feels like everyone. Every time you talk to someone you will be wondering what they’re thinking, weather they’re trying to see scars on your arms or bite marks on the back of your hand. Its just not worth it.
"I would be almighty in my own world of art, even if I had to paint my pictures with my wet tongue on the dusty floor of my cell." -Picasso
"No, painting is not done to decorate apartments. It is an instrument of war." - Picasso
'I have scars becuase I have a past; but they, like my past, do not define my future'
Really well written though, a few typos and suchlike here and there, and I think it'd be an improvement to divide it into 2/3 paragraphs as opposed to a block, but well written.
“The good things don’t always soften the bad, but vice-versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”
“Nobody important? Blimey, that’s amazing. Do you know, in nine hundred years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.”
“If it’s time to go, remember what you’re leaving. Remember the best. My friends have always been the best of me.”
I havn't wandering into and had poke around the Creative Corner for a while, and this thread stood out at me. Not just because it was written by a friend (well, a very good friend who i absolutely love and would do anything for). But i don't know why if i'm honest. I suppose it was a hunch. That odd feeling, when you walk down a street lost, but you have a feeling that a choosing a certain path will reveal to you what you're after. But, you find that path doesn't take you to where you want to go, where your thoughts are at that moment in time, it takes you to a place you wish you'd known about sooner.
That was an amazing piece of writing Liz. Powerful and demanding. Yet painful, hurt, timid with fear. Truly amazing. Every dictionary, in every language, would never ever give me enough words to tell you how brilliant that piece of work is. Although, i can compare it to you. The highest compliment that i am able to give that text. People have suggested tweaks and alterations, but i disagree. It's perfect to me. And always will be! (always has been)
