I put sometimes... cos sometimes I just really like the look of the piercing and want to get it done for that reason, but I also get pierced when I'm really stressed, cos it's a huge distraction when it needs taking care of afterwards. Plus it's probably safer than other forms of SI

All of my tat's and piercings symbolize something, and they are usually done during hard times so I put sometimes.

I love getting piercings and although I may enjoy the pain, that's not why I get them done. My piercings are separate from my scars and don't remind me of the same things. I would like to get tattoos in the future, and any that I get will mean something.

Nope. I've never done it for pain at all. The pain is the least pleasurable part of the experience for me.

I do get piercings to try and 'change' myself though, to see if I like myself any more, but never as self harm.

Keys - it's not the pain that works for me either, but then its not the pain at the time that works for me with si. It's the distraction afterwards, the longer term pain and the taking care of the wound/piercing. Hence piercings help me when I'm very stressed, and work as an alternative to 'home-done' si.

No I never have. But then, i have only had my ears pierced (7 in one, 1 on the other)

I would like my nose done and i would like a tattoo but iim scared of needles. Do they do your nose with a gun?

Nooo get it done with a needle, it's so much safer and hurts less too!

but i said "no" because when i si it is so I have the power over me...the control.
if i get a piercing by someone else then i give them the control...and control is what it is about for me...:)

i do my own piercings anyhow....all but my eyebrow.

my friend did alot of my ear peircings for me when we were drunk with a needle and a potato (really not advisable) so i suppose thats kina a form of self harm

My belly ring was the first step to relizing it caused a pain that made my emotional pain go away... Then I wanted a tatto for awail and was upset so I told my birth mother i wanted one so we went out and i got my tatto...

I just do it responiable and I only get the tattoos I want for a long time before i get them... adn i am gonna get one more peircing!

I went to the mall with some girlfriend-classmates after a particularly difficult class.
All three of us got ear piercings.
so now in that second/upper set of ear piercings, I wear my sobriety date birthstones.

nope. no tatoos and i doubt i'm going to be getting even a second set of holes in my ears. i didnt even realised i'd screamed the first time i'd got them done!
