Don't you hate it when these role-models talk so much ****?
Just wanted to get this out:
Estelle -
"I'm not mad at them, but I'm wondering - how the hell is there not a single black person in the press singing soul? Adele ain't soul. She sounds like she heard some Aretha records once, and she's got a deeper voice - that don't mean she's soul. That don't mean nothing to me in the grand scheme of my life as a black person. As a songwriter, I get what they do. As a black person, I'm like: 'You're telling me this is my music?!'"
If you can, try and imagine those words coming from a white indie-rock singer complaining about Bloc Party's Kele Okereke singing `his` music.
Try and imagine him saying that because Kele is black, his songs "don't mean nothing to me."
You probably think this indie-rock kid was a bit racist, wouldn't you? Yet no-one's said anything!
Emily Eavis -
""People will be really, really surprised. Indie kids who don't necessarily go to Jay-Z gigs, I think they'll be really excited about it. They might not go to one of his gigs but they're gonna check him out and people will be won over by him."
What bullshit!
Jay Z -
"It's ridiculous, if we don't embrace what is new, then how do we progress?"
So we have to embrace this chav culture then? **** that.
Although on a good note from the BBC:
" by booking a rapper to headline, Glastonbury was betraying its roots as a rock music festival."
Role Models?!
Since when were these people role models?!
You can't have have one "okay" song and instantly become a role model.
People Idolise celebrities too much.
I can't comprehend how being able to sing/write music gives them Rolemodel status.
Let them talk as much bullsh*t as they want.
It's got f*ck all to do with me.
And climb high to the highest rung, to shake fists at the sky.
You are a true bastard. Flame or no flame. You have genuinely put a downer on something I was really excited about. I know people will say I shouldn't be affected and generally, I'd rather not give you the satisfaction but I can't help it. Look at your sig. There's no need, people see that all over RYL and it feels like an attack. I agree with you Estelle is talking ***** but I personally think you just threw her in there to 'balance' an argument where you actually just wanted to **** all over Glasto again.
These people are role models regardless of what we think. But really annoys me is how she got away with it...if it was a white musician they'd get slaughtered and dropped from the record label, yet because she's black it's fine? ****, ****, **** off.
Estelles not saying Adele is singing 'black' music.. she just said its not soul music, so probably definately not black music.... youre the only one thats mentioned racism.
I'll explain for Danz.
(not that she needs me to like)
Basically your picking up on Estelle's point about a 'black' person saying something that could offend a 'white' person.
You were saying that if it was the other way around then the 'white' person would get called racist.
In saying that. Your basically calling Estelle racist.
It's what you get with celebrities.
Some of them are Pr*cks. Some of them are great.
Some talk ****. Some don't.
At the end of the day there just people like you and i.
Except there every move gets followed.
I'm pretty sure if i had camera's rammed in my face all day/everyday i'd say something pretty stupid now and again.
"I'll lean on you and you lean on me and we'll be okay"
as soon as you start dissing people to make yourself look better you know you have a problem.
My problem is with his comment, not who he is.
"It's ridiculous, if we don't embrace what is new, then how do we progress?"
So in Jay Z's eyes we have to embrace Terrorism, Chav Culture etc...to progress. What bullshit.

Because she is.
"As a black person, I'm like: 'You're telling me this is my music?!'"
So white people can't sing soul because they aren't black, in her opinion, well **** that & **** her.
i'm not getting into any racial thing here but i just think if you have the power to reach a lot of people with your words and you use them to launch unsolicited attacks on people to give yourself more credibility then i think she's a bit of a moron.
x
we're falling apart, together.
why can't i feel anything for anyone other than you?
"Because she is.

Right ok, I ignored this for long enough.
Where exactally does it say that white people can't sing soul music?
And what the **** gives you the right to sing it anyway, particually you, mainly because your a rascit, moronic, fashist idiot, who has very little grasp on reality.
It IS black music, as is blues, funk and Jazz, and will always be that way. Nothing was said about white people not being allowed to sing soul music, she mearly said that she wishes there were more black people singing soul. And I agree, because they're better at it, what with it being THEIR MUSIC AND ALL!!!!!!!
Let me put it this way, imagine Bob Dylan singing reggae, now imagine Bob Marley singing Reggae, which is better?
"It's ridiculous, if we don't embrace what is new, then how do we progress?"

Also, terrorism isn't something thats new.. the IRA etc..

With demons dancing off mirror images reflecting all that you wanted.
So far from perfect, onward we will strive.
Take it for what it's worth, this truth that you've realized.
You're not who you thought you were, it's time to see the other side of what you have become.
"Jay Z -

Accurate & concise, unbelievable."
Oh, I am SO not finished here! You give me so many reason to dislike you, it's almost as if you wish to be disliked.
FOR A START, Glastonbury festival was never a "rock" festival, infact, ti started out with some pretty folk roots, so technically, if you look at it, the foundations have already been broken, but that's only if you look at it from a synical, replublican, point of veiw. The whole point of the glasonbury festival is to give a little music to everyone, it's all about EVERYONE having a good time, which leads me on nicely to my next point.
JAY Z IS TALKING ABOUT MUSIC, HE SAID NOTHING ABOUT CHAV CULTURE OR TERRORISM!
Get that in to your thick, thick skull!
We've had issues with Glastonbury-related threads before, and since they haven't been resolved without an argument and insults being thrown about - as it seems to be on this thread, too - I'm closing this for now, until people have a chance to calm down, and we've had a chance to go through and clean this thread up a bit.
Any issues, please feel free to PM me or another moderator.
