Read into the various chapters, each has its own unique history and backstory. It was after reading into it that I decided to go for blood angels, good characters and a colourful history :)
Be prepared to spend spend spend........it can be a very expensive hobby.
The games workshop own paintbrushes are good quality but they don't really do them small enough for intricate detail work from my own experience.
It's a crack habit of a hobby, get out while you can! Nah seriously, Marines are a good force to start with, more straightforward tactics and less models to paint (and buy!), than the horde armies like Orks and Imperial Guard.
I have about a hundred euro saved up.. not QUITE enough to get started, but nearly. I'm gunna wait til the 5th edition comes out too, I mean how much would it suck to get into it only for the rules to be changed a week later?
I have ton of Necron stuff on top of my wardrobe! I love my nightbringer ;D
Haven't seriously been into 40K for a few years now, I just don't have the money.
"not only have we never had any notion or desire to win
but not even any notion that there was anything to be won,
anywhere
and then you know if I really think about it now
to me the word winning seems exactly the same as dying" - Nanni Balestrini
Isn't that a game like WoW, I don't follow the online rpg's too much, I do however play fps like counter strike source and team fortress , oh and I'm addicted to oblivion.
i got my ultramarines veterans, my dark angel verterns, my deathwing squad for space hulk and my orc blood bowl team and not forgetting ym mass tank squadron of imperial guard
also any dow players check out the space hulk mod for it its awesome
They're a LOT better than the 4E rules, especially the new "true line of sight" rule. In the old rules if a unit was more than 6" in cover, you couldn't shoot them, which sucked, but now if your unit can see them, they can shoot them, which is a hell of a lot more fun.
Theres a lot more emphasis on troops too, cos 2 out of the 3 possible missions are objective-based and now only troops can take and hold objectives, which means much bigger, much cooler-looking games.
Theres a lot more new rules and tweaks but thats all I can remember for now..
