I want CBT and DBT privately, how?

OH and I have decided that seeing as the NHS won't refer me for therapy, I'm going to have to go private.

My NHS Pyschiatrist says I need CBT and DBT, then Pyschotherapy when I'm stable. She is unable to recommend anyone, nor is my GP.

How do I go about finding a CBT and DBT Therapist? Do I need a seperate therapist for each? How do I make sure I don't get a bogus therapist?

I know my local Priory does offer DBT, but I don't really want to go there as I sometimes do a 'recovery talk' for people on the Addiction Treatment Program.

I think you will find that most therapists who do DBT also are very familiar with CBT. Searching for a DBT therapist might be the best way of searching, then you could always ask if they can do CBT as well. I found a therapist that does both who works out of the hospital but I see her privately. They have programs (Out-patient/Partial hospitalization) that specialize in DBT. If you call up the director to one of those programs, they will probably be able to recomend a therapist for you - ask for a DBT Treatment Program.

So, overall I'd either do a search for DBT therapists and see if they could do both, or find a program (usually through a hospital) and get directed or a recomendation from there.
