ideas would be great *lesbian/bi particularly*

heya,
i take gcse drama and for this terms assesment we are allowed to do our own piece in small groups. there are 4 of us in my group and 2 of us are bisexual girls so we have decided to do a piece about being gay. (the other two dont mind)

we have loads of ideas and we want to include:-
- a teenage girl coming to terms with her sexuality
- a teenager coming out to her family and having loads of differnet positive, negative and just obscure reactions.
- a teenage girl who has just come out at school walking through a crowd of people being paranoid and having obscenities shouted at her
- a female relationship which shows that gay people are the same as straight people on the inside.

has anyone got any strange reactions that they have had when there coming out that they dont mind sharing?? they can be humorous because we want to put some elements of humour in to grab people attention.

does anyone have any ideas of how to portray the fact that the 2 girls who are having the relationship are the same as any other couple?? it cant have full on snogging or anything in because we are only 15!!

do you think this is a good idea?? our drama group is generally very narrow minded so we want to open there eyes to the real world. we would like to bring some kind of audience participation in so do you have any ideas for that???

anyone have any other ideas that might be effective?? anyone done a similar thing before and of so what techniques did you use??

another idea i had was if at the end we all ripped open our school shirts and we had gay pride tshirt on underneath. do you think this would be efective??

Well, when I was a little kid my Mum showed me those homo-sexuals were just like everyone else because they cooked, clean and loved each other. So why not just have everyday convesation between a couple. About how their partner's day went, who's taking out the trash, what's for dinner etc.

I think having pulling off your shirts to reveal gay pride t-shirts is a little cheesy. If you want to emphasise they're just like everyone else, stay away from the dramatic demonstrations.

The whole kiss thing; try leaning in and then quickly dimming the lights down or something?
I like your idea though.
My coming out experience was good to some extent, my mum accepted it however i was told not to tell my grandparents as they would disown me.
When i got 'outed' in school however, i got letters posted through my locker taking the piss, name calling inside school, name calling outside school and that kind of thing. It was horrid but i like your idea about portraying them in the same way as a straight couple because they ultimately are :)

I'm out. Kind of. I don't really announce it at school, but I'm pretty certain everybody's heard it from somebody else, or sussed it themselves.

I had a bad experience with my sister, as a consquence, she still doesn't know. "I'm you're gay, I'll break your legs off"

My best friend told me she was bi last year, and my immediate reaction was "What, you thought I didn't know?!"
Then she told me about this girl in my school she liked, and I said exactly the same thing again... seems to break the ice :)

I don't think you really need to make a big deal out of the fact that gay relationships are the same as straight relationships; if people don't know that then they're either incredibly naive or incredibly homophobic.
Just show them doing the same things as a straight couple. Or, if there was any chance of getting a boy to join your drama group, then portray a straight relationship, and a gay relationship kind of mirroring it...
I know it will be hard to get a boy in your group though (bloody uncompromising drama groups...)
OK, so this wasn't alot of help, but I think it's a really good idea for a drama piece.

Why don't you brainstorm and come up with something that has happened to you all to do with your sexuality?

I know from experience it's easier to write scripts and stories or from people I've known.
