I feel so angry..

Today at church, the person speaking during the sermon, was saying "There is a difference between being neurotic and psychotic. Psychotic is when people cant add up 2 and 2, and they are off their trolleys." That REALLY got to me. What right did he have to say that? I nearly had a panic attack and nearly started crying.
Does anyone else feel really annoyed when people say things like that? And make assumptions about people who have psychosis?

that must have been horrible, i can't believe soemone would say that. perhaps it would be worth speaking to your priest/minister about it, so they could maybe speak to this person and resolve it?

There are a lot of stereotypes around mental health and related illnesses and a lot of time people do not know how to approach them. Obviously this person was attempting to tackle the subject with humor, an failing dismally. Why not write them an anonymous letter with your thoughs regarding their comment and with some more sturdy information. It might make them apologise next time, and hopefully make you feel a little better.
Some people are just idiots - thats really all there is to it :)

That is totally totally wrong. And entirely unprofessional. I'm sure you weren't the only person who was offended by it.

Someone said that in church?! You'd think that church at least would be a safe and comforting place, I can understand your anger. It's difficult for people to understand things that they have never been through, especially those things that might seem 'scary' to them. Sometimes people say things without thinking about their impact on others. I hope you're alright. Take care. xxx

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.
