Safe - My Daughter and chickenpox

My 22 Month old Daughter has got chickenpox and they are really really bad, she has them in her ears behind her ears in her hair all over her face, back, tummy, feet and the worst part affected is were her nappy goes, i think the fact that she is wearing nappys is making it worse, cause when i take her nappy off she scratches real bad.

I was wondering if i am doin everythin ok with her. Iv covered her in aqueous calamine cream on her body and calamine lotion on her face and head. Iv been giving her piriton and calpol and bathin her in cool water with no soap.

Is there anything else i can do? should i bother taking her to the doctors or will they just say that im doin everythin ok, cause i dont really want to take her out in this bad weather. Im jus so worried about her, i hate seeing her ill.

I would get her to the doctors.
So they can give you some medication for it.

Um i meant some creams or lotions. I'm sure that they have some, especially for chicken pox.

Source: Chickenpox Wikipedia

"Chickenpox infection tends to be milder the younger a child is and symptomatic treatment, with a little sodium bicarbonate in baths or antihistamine medication to ease itching, and paracetamol (acetaminophen) to reduce fever, are widely used. Ibuprufen can also be used on advice of a doctor. There is no evidence to support the topical application of calamine lotion, a topical barrier preparation containing zinc oxide in spite of its wide usage and excellent safety profile."

So, i hope that could help you.

Even if you are or were you STILL need to take your daughter along to see YOUR DOCTOR.

See your GP do not give your child any medications without first consulting your own Doctor.

You can call NHS Direct as well on 0845 46 47

Chicken pox are mostly annoying for you and the child.
Remember...never give baby asprins to a child with chicken pox, it can lead to reye's syndrome.

Sometimes it can be very helpful to put mittens or socks on the child's hands to reduce scratching as this is what can lead to scaring in later life.

A bath with oatmeal in it will also help with the itching very much.

Good luck, it is exhausting but it will be over soon.
