I'm sorry that this has hurt you, i'm sure that with time you will be able to accept it. As Crazy Rabbit Lady has said, this can help you to get the support that you need and deserve. Having a label doesn't change what has been happening to you or who you are as a person, it only gives possible reasons as to why you feel the way that you do. Perhaps now you can try to find people who have a similar diagnosis to help you cope. I'm here if you need to talk. Take care. xxx
I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.
Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.
I'm glad you now know that it isn't just you being stupid, because you're not stupid at all.
Hold onto what Trace said about labels. That label doesn't change you as a person. It doesn't control you, if anything it can help you, help those around you to be there to give you the right and best help they can for you.

Change the voices in your head,
Make them like you instead
Don't be devastated by a schizophrenia dx. I'm schizophrenic and my Mother reminds me of it almost every day by mocking me or deriding me in some way, but I don't let it get to me.
It is better to get the truth out than to live a secret.
PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
It is excellent that your boyfriend is so close to you.
When I was diagnosed, my Mother and I did loads of research into my condition, which really helped.

*cuddles* sorry I am late in posting in this thread but I am diagnosed with schizophrenia and I still dont like being diagnosed with it. It's just a label at the end of the day (that's what I believe)... peoples experiences are sooo different when it comes to psychosis (schizophrenis is a type of psychosis) so they shouldn't be labled. Schizophrenia has such a stigma attached to it, people find it hard to understand.
What's most important is that you dont focus on your diagnosis but focus on your recovery and your team to give you the right treatment, meds, therapy, support etc...
I hope I could be of some help, take care... and if you need anything dont hesitate to PM me anytime xx
