quitting smoking
i started smoking 11 long years ago, 12 years ago i started cutting. so tomorrow's the day. i plan on quitting....smoking. i got the patch. but i'm not too sure. every time i really think about it, i start to get so anxious, i think i'm bordering on an anxiety attack. but i *have* to do this.
SO, i was wondering if anyone else has done this and how they got through it? any tips or tricks?
i've never tried to quit smoking before, i have no clue what to expect. i'm kind of scared

I tried to quit for awhile, now I just narrowed down how many. Which could help you too.. start restricting and decreasing how much ou smoke. And I know this mght sound weird but what helped me is eating hard candies a lot to keep my mouth occupied. haha.
Good Luck and you can do this!

Try sucking mints or something. Have you tried the NHS Smoking Helpline for advice on giving up?
Good luck.

i already restricted the amount i smoke. cut down alot. i havne't had one yet today and it's killing me! and the fact that people are playing horrible horrible music where it's supposed to be quiet right now is making me want to kick them. quitting can't be good for my mood p
i'll totally look up the nhs hotline. and as for the doctor, i don't want to go there becuase i hate mine and the copay is too expensive anyways.

Hello
I gave up smoking 6 weeks ago and I did it with the nicorette gum. I did not cut down but I choose my sober birthday which is an important day for me and one I would remember. I started on the strong gum and after two weeks I cut down to the light gum. I am now totally off the gum and feeling much better for it. I have done it, so can you!! Just think you will smell alot better you will have more money to spend. Good luck to you

I quit smoking for 10+weeks but then started again, it's quiet hard but, one thing i'd say is, take it one day at a time, i also used the gum, Cutting down is near enough impossible. I just went cold turkey but with the gum.
I don't know what services there are in the US but I know in the UK there are stop smoking groups and things, maybe you could see if there's something similar where you are?
Another thing is, get a money pot and put money in everyday that you don't have a smoke/cigerette money. So that you can reward yourself at the end of it and also see how much money you were wasting.
Good luck!

hey
i quit smoking 1 week ago so i know how hard it is...
the patch for me was really good at first but after a couple of days i needed something else to support me..the inhaler is really good for when you have sudden cravings, i think the gum is the best because it gives you something to do and theres different types to suit you personally..
good luck!
