Emotions while drunk
Are the things you feel when drunk real or not. I think that when I am drunk that what I think is often the feelings I would not normally admit and are often the same the day after but too embarresing to admit to. My emotions are definately heightened and they are the things that I feel are true. but can I trust them??
My drunken admission tonight is when I get stiched by my GP I feel like it's a like a parent looking after me and comforting me. I do not get this feeling at the hospital and it is increased dramatically when she does it on her own.

You'll be surprised to know how far you can go from the point where you thought it was the end.

I think a lot of people feel the same or similar. I know when my cpn used to dress my wounds I felt soothed, taken care of. And yes, alcohol definitely brings to the surface emotions you were feeling anyway. If I get drunk when I'm unhappy, I'll be the weeping, snivvelly mess in the corner a few hours later. Needless to say I drink very rarely now, and very little quantities!

Hiya,
There is saying "A drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts." - and I think there may be some truth in that! But there are lots of healthier ways to express inner feelings - maybe creatively? And it's not uncommon for you to find having your wounds cared for soothing. I found caring for my wounds soothing too - now I try and "pamper" myself some other way when I'm triggered. Do you think you could try this? *hugs*

Hi
I know that the feelings I have when I am drunk are those ones that I bury deep whilst sober. If only the psychs/mh team would speak to me whilst I was drunk as they would have more info and understanding as to how I feel and some of the reasons I do what I do. Unfortunately, they won't.

I know exactly what you mean, I often think that too. It does seam to loosen the inhibition.

Yeah, alcohol heightens ones emotions. So whatever you show when you are drunk is real but something you may have suppressed/not shown when sober. As it reduces your inhibitions it has lead me to talking to someone about my SH in a way that, had I been sober, I wouldn't have done and has lead to a lot of problems. So yeah, be careful what you say when you're drunk!
