Safe - microgynon and being sick

hey

Feel rather stupid posting about this but i need to put my mind at rest.

I have taken my pill correctly this month and i am just coming up to the end of my 28 days.Last night i took my pill before going out to the pub before 11p so most likely 9:30- 11pm is the time range that i can think up and i was sick at 2am ish.

Will my pill be working correctly as in contraceptive wise ?

I will be going straight onto the next pack anyways without the 7 day break so i am not concerned about effecting contraception as it would only effect me for 7 days.

this probably makes no sense.I have had no sleep and have been throwing up all day

Thank you if anyone has the answer to my rather strange question

So am I getting this right, you took the last pill from the pack last night at the time you always take them, you've took all the rest correctly, (no sickness/diarrhoea,) and last night you were sick 3+hours after? And you want to know if its still effective for contraception as a result of this?

Sorry if it sounds a bit stupid me checking again but I wasn't too sure and thought it best to ask!

I took it earlier last night than i normally do as i knew i would forget when drunk but was only like an hour or two earlier than beforhand.I have 3 more pills left in this pack and would have taken it again this morning but it would have been a waste of the pill.

the rest is correct.

nah, not stupid at all.alcohol killed my brain cells :(

I *THINK* I remember my doctor telling me that if you throw up 2 or 3 hours AFTER taking it...you should be ok... but I'm not 100% certain on that so dont quote me :/
Is it wise to go straight onto the next pack straight away though?
If you have any concerns, I'd suggest calling your doctor.

It is fine to go onto another pack, have been told not to run 3 together in a row, also if you havent taken your pill correctly you have to take it correctly for 7 days for the protection to be at the standard % and if you are at the end of a packet you run 2 together.if that makes sense

As it is nearing the end of the pack then the levels of progesterone in your blood will have already peaked. This means that if you miss one/ throw up/ have diarrhoea after it then your progesterone levels will not get low enough for you to ovulate and therefore it will still work for contraception given you are at the end of your pack. Also, as it is at least 3 hours between you taking it and throwing up then most if not all of it that would be absorbed into your blood will have been. However, if you are unsure it is always best to protect yourself with condoms too and these are the only way to prevent against STIs (which I'm sure you know!).

What RhubarbDahi has written above about running packs together is true. Though it is best to always have 21days taking it and a week off (in most cases) up to 3 packs run together is fine so long as you have a 7 day break then. Though, you may find you have break-through bleeding throughout the last pack or so if you do this
