To those few of you who use the terms "nazi" moderators, or "cool" points, would you mind explaining something to me?
I'd be interested to hear why you feel it necessary to compare the moderators of this website to people who slaughtered millions of innocent people?
I also think it'd be kinda interesting to hear why you feel it necessary to call infraction points "cool" points, when the majority of them have been given for you bullying, flaming, mean sarcasm, and other cruel acts against members of this website?
Just wondering.
And if you can answer it without flaming or rule breaking too, that'd be nice.
How about a little more respect around here, because it is getting very sad to see how some of our staff are being treated.

WAimee! I love you. I know first hand that you are one of the sweetest most caring people. And to compare someone as lovely and wonderful as you to a nazi is an absolute travesty which makes me very sad.
I personally disagree with those phrases, but a couple of people spring to mind who use them and I don't think I could articulate what I think of them in a way that would be appropriate.
I guess maybe they might have been the bullies at school that did it because they thought it was cool or wanted to be accepted or something. After all we all know bullies have mega problems too, maybe that is just have they deal with it.
I do think though, that it's sad that some lovely people get dragged and caught up in it and make themselves look bad. Maybe because the 'cool' people influence them and they are scared? A bit of typical bullying going on really, and those scared of getting bullied get pulled along through fear of being turned on maybe.

in my defence i have never called you nazi moderators but you do drive people up the wall.
But when the site is not moderated as strongly, people moan and complain. There is no way to please everyone so you have to do what is best for the majority.
You haven't ever been a mod here but it is ****ing hard and most people have no idea about that unless they have done it. To mod a site full of volatile/vulnerable/ill, etc, people and still be dealing with your own problems, that's a tough thing to do. They won't make all right decisions all the time, they will make mistakes, but they do the best they can.
What is it you would like to be able to do that you can't already do, and what is a feasible way for it to happen? If you can put forward something reasonably, with a fair reason, maybe the mods might discuss it.
I think people are jealous of the pretty colours your names get to be!

Ah, Laura. It's all in how you express what you are feeling. There are thousands of threads here about people's feelings, so, they're certainly being expressed somehow.
As much as we drive people up the wall, we work damn hard too. And if it drives people up the wall - it's likely cause they're breaking the rules.
I think Trace has made some very good points - especially regarding bullying.

The website does not stop you expressing opinions that aren't extremist, it is just about how you phrase it. The news and debate forum is a perfect example of this and does mention extremist views.

i can remember the slow labour thread. we didn't get to air our views that much coz they always got removed. YES i know i had that 3 page rant with vicki but to this very day i'm proud of that. Due to her

They are doing their job. If they couldn't be arsed doing their job, they didn't do it to the standard that they are now, or there was no moderators, things would go tits up and i'm sure there would be plenty of people to complain then. People only throw a hissy fit at things which don't work their way. If they don't believe in it then it's wrong and they need to make a big deal out of it or if it's not part of their 'crew'. For instance, i've seen many a times... someone out of the 'cool' gang will make a pointless/stupid thread yet it will get what.... 6/7 pages, a new person will make a thread along the same lines, or a thread which the majority don't agree with, yet they get slaughtered, told to **** off and do one. Like we hear all the time - if we don't like it, don't read it, but some of RYL don't stick by that - they need to make a scene, need to make the personf eel as small as possible and this is when themoderators come in. It's their JOB!
As for the 'we cannot air our feelings at all anymore' comment - people can, but they choose to do it in a horrible way. So that's why the moderators jump in.
Trust me, if there were no moderators and RYL slipped, you wouldn't like it. So try to appreciate them instead of bashing them. Yes they make mistakes sometimes but come on who doesn't.
I can't say i've ever used the term 'Nazi-Moderators' or actually have heard it used?! So can't really comment.
But on the 'cool points' thing, I generally think it was just a term used months ago defining people who had them as cool and people who didn't as not cool in a completely jokey sense. I don't think it was ever seen that the points were something to genuinely be proud of, but then again they are called "points" which insinuates some sort of reward for 'bad behaviour'?! Oh god knows, I just generally think it's a jokey term whereby in the past few months it seems* it's become 'cool' to be 'bad' on here.

Typsee kept everyone well informed about this and as far as I can remember allowed people to express their opinions on that thread before it was removed. Proud is an interesting word to describe that.

It all comes down to respect I think. Slating someone for their views/who they are is not respectful. Also I think people should remember that two wrongs don't make a right, but your actions do reflect back on yourself.

It's fair enough to want to let your feelings out, but has people have said, you still can. You've got to be really careful about airing your views about other members, it might seem fine if you are doing it, but wouldn't you be really hurt if someone did that about you?
Anyways, the point is this site is obviously full of people with many different problems and issues, so you just have to be careful, and try and be as open and welcoming as possible

Personally, I've never really had a problem with the mods..... I don't REALLY like the idea of so many posts being deleted because it seems to just breed contempt.... as the events of the last couple of days have shown. I think that in the past teh mods have made some very good decisions, but its odd that the relatively unoffensive threads (I'm talking about the 3rd one, not the first) was deleted rather than locked whereas the thread with the girl who was bitching about Linda (Misterlinda) and desperatly looking for a partner was merely locked...... I DO agree that sometimes threads get out of hand but maybe locking them would be a simpler way then deleting them outright?

Personally, I have no idea whats upset the balance of the site so much recently...... but whatever it is I hope it gets solved quickly!
To be honest, most people here are very intelligent and there are lots of intelligent ways to articulate how you view about other members. I've been very honest with people about what I think, but I have not sworn or flamed or anything. It can be done calmly and articulately and often that has a better result than being abusive.
And I also just wanted to say that those that have a problem with the strictness of the modding still haven't come up with a way to solve the problem, so it does sound like you are ranting but not willing to suggest anything to make it better.

I'd prefer for this not to turn into an argument - by the way. I'm not blaming anyone, I am simply asking as to why these terms need to be used.
I know my original post came out as quite defensive on behalf of the moderating team, though it was written by myself and may not represent the views of the rest of the moderating team.
I did, however, want to open discussion to those who feel the need to continually put moderators (And other members) down. And if the only way I can get people to pay attention without being "patronising" is to state it like this, then I guess that is the case at the moment.
On the whole the website has a wonderful supportive atmosphere; and I would like to see that extent to here, too. But this seems to be the most problematic forum, unfortunately.
