counsellors *mentions sh*

went to my counsellor today, which hate doing anyway-i cant do with the "how do you feel about this????" kinda comments.
thankfully we've agreed together that i only have to go once more and thats to discuss what he's told my manager (she asked him to call her so she'd know how to help me from professionals point of view)... anyway back to the point...

.... he was asking when i last sh'd-i said wed, (thought it was easier not to mention picking etc) he then went "oh well thats not very long is it"- WOT how is that supposed to help!!!! up until then i had been doing it everyday and more than once anhd you cant give me oh thats good!!!!

i know its not weeks or months but i was so proud that i hadnt had any urges since i had kinda agreed with myself that this is what i do and shouldnt be ashamed or feel bad about it-it doesnt make me a bad person. and then he goes and pop's the proud balloon!!!!

i wonder sometimes whether these people ACTUALLY know what they are talking about!!!! grrrrrr...... not happy

Sometimes people don't realize how what they say affects us. With cutting especially, one or two days doesn't seem like very long to them. But you've done amazingly well making it for so long! You SHOULD be proud of yourself. No one can make it to weeks or months or even years without being at one or two days first! Just like people who are at the olympics had to start at the beginning no matter how gifted they are at their sport. Everyone starts a beginner. You just have to keep pushing and then you'll make it!!

i've come to the realization that they are people too. as patients/clients/whatever it's like we expect them to have all the answers or use the right combination of words and phrases to unveil a hidden truth about ourselves. society doesn't help either because when an individual expresses intention to hurt or kill themselves, society freaks out and shluffs them off onto the "professionals". sometimes these professionals want to help but don't know how, they get frustrated, or sometimes they just don't realize the effect they have because they haven't experienced the same things you or i have. i don't know the answer and i don't even know if there is one.

yeh i know ( i work with patients that expect too much too, so being a bit of a hippercrit ) thats why i dont really like the whole counsellor thing cos i want them to "cure" me and they dont have the answers!

i just feel they should be a little bit more sensitive, tis all, not make me feel bad about not doing it for longer.
but im not gonna let him get to me (hopefully) just needed a rant! x
