Yesterday the small local committee which I chair for Cancer Research UK held its annual plant sale here in Eye. We were blessed by the extraordinary spell of fine weather which we've had for the past week or so and took what was for us a record - just under £2,200. Full marks to all the helpers who included Harley helping to cart tables and getting up ladders to put up signs etc (all this on top of the new RYL shop!)
Besides selling plants the sale had an active quality bric-a-brac stand and, ever with his eye on the main chance, Harley picked up the Cupcake Magic book illustrated here.
So what we now want is an enthusiastic volunteer to whom we'll send the book for free - for them to select and try out the best half dozen recipes and then post them on the site with comments (possibly in ezine?) Samples sent to RYL HQ will definitely earn brownie points!
PMs to me from volunteers, together with reasons why you should be entrusted with this (enthusiasm will be everything).
i would lvoe to do it but ive really not got the time.
" my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never, never leave you during your times of trials and suffering. When you see only one set of footprints it was then that I carried you" you were carried out of are lifes into the next and when its my time to leave this life I know i will be carried into the next life with you.
I wish i had my world complete again.
'Can we protend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars, i could really use a wish right now' BoB
OK Folks - the book goes to Keys who was the first to volunteer and obviously enthusiastic. Apologies to the others, but part of the deal is that she posts at least half a dozen of the best recipes so that her experience can be shared out.
"Be nice. Think happy thoughts. Champion silver linings. Love all things (not just cute things like babies and kittens) & when you do love - love like they do in power ballads (you know like on a cliff with the wind in your hair and your eyes shut, knowing you'll never know love like this). Watch out for dog poo. Smile at people - even grumpy ones. Remember anything is possible & whatever you do always try to look on the bright side."
That's a truly wonderful idea Tony. I would gladly have done it had I not only just seen the thread, plus, Aust is a long way away and the cakes might not be so magic by the time they get to you.
Cooking is not only fun and gives a feeling of accomplishment, but is also a great distraction if youre feeling down.
Would it be possible to share some of the recipes anyway?
Prophetic, as I've said, part of the deal is that Amy now shares what in her view are the best recipes, hopefully together with photographs, so that whoever's interested can benefit.
Of course it's not everyone's scene but so what, if it can provide an interest for at least some people. And, who knows, if England can't beat Oz at cricket, perhaps we can beat you at cupcakes!
Oh no!! you can't put cake recipes on the site! I would be compelled to bake them all (I love making cupcakes!) but I would also be compelled to eat them all too...as much as I love making then I can't share them!...lol
