I wear RYL Jewellery most of the time and I've been thinking and decided I worry slightly that other people will know what it stands for rather than just see it as jewellery.
I don't worry about people knowing seeing it and knowing what it stands for - it means they already know about this site.
It's when people ask what it stands for. Some people I'll tell but my boyfriends mates asked me the other day when we were in the pub and I didn't have a clue what to say.
generally people have no idea although once one person looked at my wrist and I always have like a zillin bracelts on but they noticed that and winked at me and I just burst out laughing haha. usually if they know what they mean they tend to be nicer about it anyway.

I don't but it got me thinking when my therapist asked after I randomly made a comment (cant remember what it was I said) about the bracelet I had on my wrist. I must have been on another planet because he then asked me uncomfortable questions which I glossed over.
Edited to add: I wear the bracelets because I like them too, probably more that than for what they stand for does anyone else do this too?

I don't worry about other people knowing because if they do know then they've obviously got some experience of it, be it through a family member/friend or themselves.
I tell people I trust what they mean, especially when I've been able to wear my 'One Month Free' bracelet because I'm proud of it =)
I used to wear the black and white beaded bracelet with RYL on it and when people asked me what it meant I said it meant Remember Your Lemons, and it was a private joke with a friend.
Then I lost the bracelet :/

i actually have been thinking about this latley. like i wear it proudly, and no one has really asked about it, but i always wonder if they no what it means and just dont want to say anything about it.
but i like wearing it, i have the orange with one white bead, so people i think think thats odd...but hey i love it.
and i have so many bracelets on all the time so its nothing new.

I always wear my bracelet - only time I take it off is to go to sleep. And if anyone asks that I don't want to tell I say RYL stands for Randy Yellow Lemons!!
I know what you mean hun. When I got my self harm awareness bracelet I worried that people would know what it stood for when I'd wear it out at college and to friends etc. Some have asked, some haven't. I normally say what it stands for as people know I used to self harm and still get thoughts of it and my posision at a self harm website (being a chat mod of course ;)).
You could always use the excuse that you like the two colours and it's nothing to do with self harm etc?
I think if i wore the RYL one i would say it meant recover your life because it doesnt have to mean a website it could mean just what it means to the people who do not know about this site and most of the people i know i do not think would have a clue...:s

I wear my bracelets and nobody's asked me about them, but if they did, then I'd tell them. A friend of mine bought an RYL bracelet before she started self harming, so wearing the bracelets - even if you don't SI - could be seen as just raising awareness
