Quit work

I handed in my notice at work at the end of last month, cos I have panic attacks the night before and the morning of work days (I work 2 days a week), my employers are great, the woman whose family I take care of has depression herself so is great about it.

But I've been getting panicky still, I'm trying a new anxiety med and waiting for that to kick in, and waiting for the mhs to come and see and assess me again. This morning I was in such a state I ended up locked in the bathroom, crying for an hour cos I couldn't face going to work and got myself in a state over it.

Kyle (my fiancee) came with me to the doctors and he gave me a sick note dated back to last week cos I didnt go to work last week either and has signed me off for a month (by which time my notice will be over anyway).

I dont feel good that I've deserted work, it's the sort of job where they are fcked without me, but I cant see that its good for me to be getting that upset every few days.

I dont really know why I'm posting this, I guess I just wanted to get it out. Thanks for reading.

I got lei'd in Vets!

Sometimes you have to put yourself first and do what is best for you. It isn't good for you to be that upset every few days and if leaving the job helps you mentally feel better- then it's worth it.

Take care of yourself....

What is it about the work that made you panic?

Remember that companies of a certain size are legally ogliged to make reasonable adjustments if your illness is longterm. That might be worth bearing in mind in the future. I know the adjustments my workplace agreed with me have helped/help me no end.

is it really that good for your employers or the family who oyu care for to see you in such a state? what if you were so overcome with anxiety something happened and you didn't realise because you couldn't concentrate? i think you did the right thing, both for yourself and for them, i'm not having a go and i'm not saying you're bad at your job, just trying to play devil's advocate, what if's, maybe so you see it from another side?
