It's breaking my heart

I've posted before about my best friend who's got a serious illness. She's starting treatment for it this week and is scared. Really scared. I'm not coping very well with things at the moment and don't know how to help her. I'm sat crying because she's just told me she feels like her whole worlds crashing around her but I don't know what to say to help her or make things better because I know it probably isn't going to get better, not for a long time anyway. And then I feel like I'm being selfish for getting upset over it, I should be strong for her. But it's breaking my heart seeing the one person who's the most amazing, strongest person I know falling apart like this. I'm struggling because there's no one to talk to about how I feel about all this, it's so selfish. I want her to be OK, I want her to get better, I want to take it all away for her but I don't know how. I've told her I'm here for her but I really should do more.

Don't know what to do

Dealing wit hupset friends is never easy... but what you must do is make sure they understand that you're there for them... .it may be hard but you've got to stay strong and reason with them. If you get upset, they'll feel more justified in being upset aswell. If you put on a brave face, its much easier to get them to calm down and feel abit better. You can vent your own stress later... That may sound harsh on you but if you let them drag you down, they'll be even worse off than if you bury your emotions.

Sorry if that didn't make sense :S

But I'm not sure I can. I've tried to be strong for her but I'm scared I'm losing her and I don't know what's going to happen now. She's coped so well up until now. I just don't know how to help anymore but I want to so badly.

Just be a friend, chat about anything, watch tv together, do hair and make up and as many things as you can that you did before she was so ill.

I am trying to be a good friend it's just I don't know what else I can do. I don't think I'm helping very much, I'm not sure anyone can really until things start getting a bit easier for her. But I want to do more. I keep telling her I'm not sure what to say or do to help and that makes it seem like I don't care. But I really don't know what to say
