plastic surgery *poss trig*

Just wondering whether anyone here has had plastic surgery for any of their scars? I wasn't sure whether to put this in moving forward or SI discussion so sorry if it's in the wrong place.

My GP has referred me to a plastic surgeon for a particular scar on my wrist and didn't know if anyone knew the process from here? My psychiatrist has written a supporting letter and apparently they'll look at my case and decide whether to see me. I hope they will as I really want to change it. I'm generally against plastic surgery so I feel quite bad for considering it but I really hate my wrist being dented. All my other scars I can live with because when I put make up on them you can't see them but this one is horrible.

So erm yeah, I'm rambling now and can't remember the point of this thread but if anyone has had any experiences please let me know.

Hi,

There was one point when I wanted plastic surgery for my scars but I was told by my doctor that my arms were too severely scarred for plastic surgery to ever be an option.

My friend also wanted plastic surgery and the doctor said yes, however there was a rule in place that you have to go 2 years I think it is without cutting before you will be accepted- this is in the UK (Norwich). I dont know where you are from. Sadly my friend did not hold out for two years and got turned down.

I am interested to know if you have had to have stopped cutting to be allowed surgery? I have heard that the results can be very good indeed. I hope you get the surgery if that is what you want.

Good luck!

Hi thanks for your reply.

I've now stopped cutting for nearly 4 months and think I can continue this way. My doctor said that normally you have to stop for 3 years but she was going to try to get this for me anyway as I want a fresh start for when I go to uni in September. I hope I don't have to wait 3 years although I can understand why. Hopefully the letter from my psychiatrist will help.
