staying busy is a good plan. do laundry, cleaning, paint a picture, make something, knit, sew, draw, make paper chains, bake cakes and give them to your neighbours, go out, window shop, meet people for coffee.
when you're alone and the urges come back, concentrate on the next time you will see him again. plan what you will do together. write him a letter. draw him a picture. put some music on and sing and dance around your room.
if you still need to cut, draw red lines on yourself with marker pen. snap rubber bands around your wrists. squeeze some ice cubes. punch a pillow. rip up paper.
if all else fails and you think you might really do some damage to yourself, reach out. to go a doctor, go to a friend. go to A and E if you need to.
