If you could have one day, just one day, to do/go/see anything you wanted, what would you do?
I think I'd have a lazy Sunday, where I wake up to the missus, a hot cup of tea (instead of the usual cold, undrank one from last night) and go to Disneyland with my cousins :)
So what would you everyone do in your perfect day?
"And the dish ran away with the spoon. But Hawaii was the only state that would recognize the marriage as legal."
have our daughter still be at a sleepover/breaky(sounds somewhat cruel, but we need our time to)
Wake NOT too early, 10-ish
have coffee in our jammies together, make him some breakie if he wanted (i LOVE making him french toast, fried egg, bagels etc)
just talk and relax, no Ed/SI talk allowed!!!!
Slowly ponder what we are going to do before muffin gets home.
Go do whatever, walk, go to the coffee shop and sit outside under the umbrellas.
Then muffin should be home; take her to a park near us; we all (ME especially) find it very tranquil and calming...and SSSOOOOOOOOOO much fun as there are squirrels, rabbits, cranes, baby turtles, funky i-dont-know-what the -hell -they -are fish....funky/creepy looking things. Lots of paths that all meander to the top where there are benches to sit near and above the waterfall...and see the waterlillies when in seasons.
go to antarctica
see a blue whale
go to canada and see the northern lights
take my cousins along for the ride.
then get shuttled off into space, and look back at the earth.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break
that its heart may stand in the sun,
so must you know pain.
There are only two ways in which one can live their life. One is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is.
I'd wake up with my hubby after a good nights sleep in my room upstairs in my god mother's house in old Havana and have her make me breakfast, tortilla and coffee. We'd go on the little train to another friend's house and drink more coffee and chat. Go for a walk along the seafront, have a few rums in a a bar with a live band and then, on the little boat we'd go and visit the church of one of my saints and put and candle for the good health of our friends and family and another for the souls of those that have gone before us.
We'd watch the sun set from the garden where we met and then go on to a club for some quality salsa dancing.
Wake up in the motel room realizing i've actually had enough sleep and it was good sleep cause my husband's snoring wasn't bad so didn't disturb it. Kiss him awake and hand him the remote control and his first coca cola of the day on my way to the shower.
Take a shower that is hot enough and has enough water pressure and the water hasn't been softened which weirds me out because the water here is so hard that we make wisecracks about our recommended daily allowance of calcium with every sip.
Load up the SUV, drive through someplace and get egg and sausage sandwiches and sodas for breakfast.
Find the ghost town on the first or second try. On roads that I don't wonder if I'll have to get out and push the car while my husband drives it. Play kiss tennis with my husband as we travel.
Eat beef jerkey and trail mix and chocolate pop tarts for lunch.
Wander around the ghost town taking snapshots while watching my husband do some more serious photography. Listen to the quiet where the camera shutter is the loudest noise and that noise just means that my dearest best friend husband is nearby. Smell the clean air of the desert or mountian, untainted by smog.
End the day arriving at the next motel at about sunset and do either more fast food or order in a pizza for dinner.
My husband is my best friend.
In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.
Wake up in a tent with bf and hounds, woken by the sun shining thro the roof. Spend the whole day hiking thro hills, sand dunes, mountains or whatever. Just being able to climb to the top of one rise, see whats out there and pick out the next one to climb. finish the day off with fish n chips and a pint (or twelve) then collapse back into the tent exhausted and absolutely no dreams...
bliss...
If the only true wisdom lies in knowing that you know nothing, then I must be a f***ing genius
sounds beautiful too; you made me think of the place we went camping last year (going again in Aug. whooppeee!!).
what a lovely day; i hope you get to do it soon!
romp
id still be up from the night before, id have a massage and a shower, nice facial and then be shaven from a a pro witha a cut throat razor, id then put on my just finished hand made hermes suit, feed my fleet of boerboels. then id be driven in the maybach to the airport to board my private jet fly to dubai late lunch at the underwater restuarant at the burj al arab, some shopping at louis v etc. the back to the jet fly to vegas to stay at the pent house suite at thhe bellagio, then i d sit down for the evening to play in the big game (poker 100k plus buyin) while drinking copouis amounts of fine wine and excessively smoking cohibas probably chuck in some co***ne for good measure, and in the mean time cameron diaz would keep texting asking when im coming upstairs... think that would just about do it .
There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there.
Wake up with the bf, who will not have stolen all the blankets
go tubing down a river nearby
go to the beach, swim, build a sandcastle
eat good seafood for dinner and
go to bed
Oh and somehow, I will not be sunburned at the end of this day.
I've been trying to think of my perfect day since I first saw this thread...
I think my perfect day would consist of switching off the part of my brain that makes me question every minute detail of what's happening around me so that I could have a good time without worrying about anything. I'd wake my partner gently and we'd just lie in each others arms for a while. In the morning we'd go somewhere beautiful so we could relax and I could take photos. We'd stop at a nice little cafe for a light lunch, before going on to do whatever he could think of for the afternoon, so I could see him truly happy for once. Then we'd spend the evening together, somewhere away from home (a tent, a hotel, a field, i'm not bothered where really) and have a fun, intimate evening just the two of us.
Although after saying all that, if I could temporarily switch my brain off overdrive, any day with my partner would be a perfect day. It wouldn't matter what we did so long as we were together, and there would be no silly bickering or anything to ruin it if I'd found that magic switch in my brain.
I would wake up early in a treetop safari lodge in Africa and head out for a horseback safari whilst hubby and daughter still asleep. After 2hrs of riding in and amongst the wildlife I would return and have a lovely long unhurried shower before joining hubby and daughter for breakfast on the treetop lodge's balcony watching wildlife at the watering hole below.
After breakfast we would drive out to the coast and spend the morning on an unspoilt empty beach, playing, laughing, swimming before having lunch under a gazebo on the sand.
Then in the afternoon we would head off on a game drive and see lots more wildlife before returning to camp for dinner which would be sociable with close friends and family whilst overlooking the watering hole from another angle to our lodge.
After dinner we would see our daughter safely to bed. Where she would be watched over whilst we returned to play cards by candle and fire light, before chatting around the campfire with all our nearest and dearest as the night drew on.
The week before easter my boyfriends parents went away and to me each day was perfection
he woke around six and took the dog out, on his return id get up get the papers and warm freshly baked bread. we'd lie in bed, eating and reading and he'd doze, the dog lay at our feet
get up, my bf would go online and id start working on some writing/editing
stop and share lunch
spend the afternoon in companionable silence each doing our own thing but involving the other for advice or to share bits that made us laugh
bf takes dog out for evening walk while i tidy and make tea
curl up on the sofa watching tv and chatting
go to bed for naughties
bf gets up to allow me to fall asleep undisturbed and either joins me without waking me or if thats not possible goes down on the sofa
Oooh Janet, a whole day outside without sunburn? That would be awesome! On the days I'll be outside all day like exploring ghost towns I wear jeans and long sleeve T-shirts no matter the weather. It is worth it to explore ghost towns though. They are back in the mountains that are in the desert and many of them are in pretty places with the cottonwood trees and sycamore trees and willows. Part of the appeal of exploring ghost towns is to get to see those places that not many people know about.

My perfect day....actually I get this day a few times a year & it is still my perfect day.
Wake up with my wife, have coffee, veg for a few hours. Go to the pub for an early kick off game of football, a couple of pints with some friends
Go home & start getting ready for a night out.
Go out, sit around, chatting, shots of Tequila (eeewww)
All this is fun, but its not what makes it perfect.
What makes it perfect, is that moment when I look round & all I can see are my friends.
Dncing, drinking, smiling & making general merriment together.
They are prefect.
