How do you cope with anxiety when it comes to meeting people?
I have my 4 days of training tomorrow and I have no idea who will be there and most likely I will know no one.
I have got some Bach Flower Rescue Remedies (the pastille ones) to try see if that helps.
I have the worries about things I have talked about before, like the fear of my scars being seen, as we will be doing practicals (first aid).
But apart from that I have general worries as I feel I am often the one always on the side, the odd one out. I don't have same interests. I don't work (due to depression and ed history) I don't go out at night etc etc so I find it hard to talk about many of the things others chat about.
I don't know what to do to ease my worrying.
Any ideas?
I want to kiss the bottom of the ocean before I burst through its surface into the sunlight, otherwise I will always be wondering about what was left unseen at the bottom
i'm tired of chasing my dreams. i'm just gonna ask where they're going, and hook up with them later.
I normally avoid too. But I can't on this one! I need and WANT to do this traiing and despite waking up tomo morn and knowing I will be thinking of all the reasons to not go I will do it.
I just worrying over it all.

Hey I have the same problem so I wish I could give you an answer! I'd say try not worry about it n just think the other people might feel the same, but I know its easier said than done. Good luck n I'll be thinking of you cos I also dread these kinds of things! Just relax and you'll be fine xxx
Sometimes you have to face your fears and go for it. Running away and hiding is never going to solve your problems. Be pro-active, hold your head high, smile! You're bound to get a smile back, and it shows you're approachable and friendly. Have faith in yourself, like yourself and they'll like you too.
Will you ever see these people again? If not, you've nothing to worry about :) Sometimes you have to gain a bit of confidence and put on an act when it comes to scars. Pretend they aren't there. Often some people don't even notice, and its not like they're going to say anything to you when they don't know you (it'd be a bit rude if they did).
Well I got through the first day, 3 more to go!
I survived! I was sweating loads by time I got into the room.
I asked the trainer at morn break if I could avoid having my arms bandaged and she was fine with it. But in afternoon there was a bloke training and didn't know and I had to have it done. I was an anxious mess. I said to the lass doing it to do top of arm as I have scars on forearm and was rather self conscious. She said oh what from, so I told her and she said oh really? I used to pull hair out and did so this morn due to nerves etc. It was relief! We sort of got on after that and I stuck with her for practicals.
Much of day I was really quiet amonst others but I did OK and I didn't sweat buckets all day!

I must make an effort to get to know the people I will see again in SJA. at least I got someone to hang about with for the next 3 days.

Today was good. Mentally tiring/draining though. But as I did very similer course last month I knew a fair bit so wasn't stressed.
Early night I think for me.
I got annoyed with a few people. They are there as their jobs sent them and many don't really wanna do it. And so are silly and messing about being loud etc etc. It annoys me as I want to do this as a volunteer with SJA.
I did have loads of Bach Rescue Remedy pastilles today as it got hard.

And on the 3rd day I have now got a bruised pinky finger as I did so much CPR training I thought it was just bit sore as was wrist after all the chest compressions then I got home and picked up a mug and OUCH! It really hurts. It is going a little 'off' colour now so am using my first aid training and am aiding finger! I wouldn't be bothered but I got the big assessment tomorrow and have to be in top top shape to pass and I don't need a swollen sore finger! Such a little thing (the finger that is!) and it can cause me to not do it right. I HAVE TO PASS. Painkillers it is so I can't feel pain tomorrow!
The annoying girl who peed me off yesterday, well I did best to avoid today and was pleased to see her get things wrong as she feel rough with hang over lol. Which isn't nice behaviour/thoughts on my part but she is an unlikeable person so... I just tolerated :)
Roll on tomo so I can get it over and done with and pass and stop being a nervous mess.

Hey. Well done on getting through the training. It sounds like you managed it really well. I have social anxiety aswell and sometimes it seems completely impossible to even speak to someone, but if you push yourself a bit and take it step by step it does get easier.
