Can they do this?
Currently im getting medication off my GP and its working fine. I feel alright. Im stable.
But i got refared back to CAMHS after an overdose. And she said they wont see me because i'm taking recreational drugs.
So my GP is happy to perscribe me medication (i dont take it on the days i do drugs), yet someone at CAMHS wont even see me?
Can they do this? Im not too fussed as Im feeling alright anyways, but a bit annoyed they wont even consider to see me ?

Well Ami as I've said elsewhere get your gp to talk to them if they're taking this attitude!

that's weird - our camhs has a substance misuse team within it because so ofetn mental health and drug taking go together. ask your Gp about it, that doesn't seem to make sense

I don't they should be able to refuse to see you
They should be encouraging to to stop the drugs - but you may not be happy bout that either? But like mim says they should have a drug team because some mental health problems are caused/ exacerbated by drug use.
Is there someone else at camhs you can speak to?

you should definately complain, or see what other help they can provide. As is said above drugs lead to some mental disorders and some mental disorders include behavious such as drug taking. They shouldnt ignore you straight out.

Oh Aimee, last night I typed you a long reply but it disappeared.
It might be worth doing an internet search for P.A.L.S the patient advise liason services if you don't feel that your mental health team is doing what they should be
Also if you wanted you could have a look for the N.I.C.E Guidelines - they are like the health watchdog and they'll have guidlines on how certain circumstances should be dealt with.
Good luck,
Sarah.
