Wound Care - Removing Steri Strips and other such fun things

Im not sure if you'll be able to help me but here goes anyway...I SI'd pretty badly on Monday night, i did go to A&E so have been all bandaged and stiched and steri stripped together. I was told to go to the doctor after 5 days to get my cuts looked at but i wont be able to go till Monday, when i go home. I was wondering if it would be ok for me to keep the bandage and steri strips on until Monday or would it be better for me to take them off myself at the weekend, make sure they arent infected and such things??

Probably sounds like a pretty dumb question but i dont wanna keep them on any longer then they are suppose to be there for

Leave them on until Monday, unless you start getting the signs of an infection. In that case, leave them on and go to the hospital right away. Leaving them on an extra day or so until the doctor can see them won't hurt the healing process any.

With things like stitches and steri strips leaving them on longer isn't a big deal at all as long as they are on for more then the minimum time the doc said.
