Triggering (SI) - "Sleepcutting"

SI while you sleep?

I sleep with my tool [dont think im allowed to say what it is] all the time, so im kinda asking for it... But I wake up with [mostly shallow] cuts all over my arms... Ive done a few serious ones, but thats pretty rare.

Anyone else had this "problem"?

Oh yeah, its never once woken me up... i just sleep through it all

I don't sleepcut, but I sleepscratch quite a lot, and sometimes quite badly (as bad as a scratch can be I suppose). Usually it's when I've had a bad day or something, but sometimes it's totally random and I wake up to find that I had hurt myself.
It's not something I'm proud of, and I don't know how to stop it... I'm just sorry you do it as well.

Take care hun. x

I've woken up with bruises but never cuts. But anything sharp that I could do damage with is pretty hard to get to in my sleep.

I had that problem, sractching, not cutting, so now I keep my nails really short ans wear long sleeves and pants and are close fitting so they don't roll up or anything. I guess for cutting, you'd have to just put your tools somewhere where it'd be a pain in the but to get even when you are fully conciouse. Or wrap them in a thousand (over exaggerating) layers of tape so you can't get to the sharp part.

I went through a stage of this, where i woke up with cuts that i don't remember doing. One night scared me inparticular when i woke up in the morning with new cuts and a 'tool' in my hand that i had never seen before and i have no idea where i got it from. I was very scared by that.

I've occasionally slept with my tool, but that was only because I forgot to put it back in it's place.

I have to admit though, I'd never heard of sleepcutting until I came across this thread

Actually, yea i have. When i used to sleep w/ my tool it happened all the time, now my tool is kept in a different place at night, and so far its only been scratches..but im a very light sleeper so maybe that was why i would wake up w/ cuts and not remember them. try some sleeping pills, like melotonin or w/e it helped me w/ sleeping harder and i guess not sleep cutting

i wake up with weird bruises, and sometimes the occasional scratch or cut. it doesn't happen a whole lot though, since there's not really anything nearby when i'm sleeping that i'd use to SI.

you might want to try to keep your tool in a different place...maybe find something similar to keep near you to kinda replace it so it seems like it's still near, but not something sharp.

I've never heard of that before. Like most people i have woke up with the odd bruise and i recently woke up with a number of scratches but i think my violent cat may have done that because she attacks my feet most nights.

Ahhh!!! Sorry I havent replied in so long... Some crappy stuff went down, and whenever it does, my rationality goes out the window...

Aaaanywho, Those are some good ideas, i could wrap it up in stuff coz then i'd still be holding it, but the pointy bits wouldn't be able to get me =]

I didnt wanna say this before, as it sounds kinda silly... But ive noticed when I have my nightmare thingies, or dream about torturing someone or something [Yes, the mind of a Benji is a weird, unpleasant place] the cuts are somewhat worse... The heightened emotional state [or something] might explain it, right?

Oh yeah, striving4perfection... I think it might be a blankie-type thing, it is massively comforting...

Could you put your tool like between your pillow sheets?
That way you wouldn't be so likely to cut yourself?
Be careful, holding a sharp object whilst you sleep especially if you have nightmares isn't going to be safe.
