Triggering (ED) - Question about purging

I was wondering , if i attempted to purge but didn't succeed , does this mean that i will have the same damage of a successful purging ?

Well i would think you'd still get a sore throat, but not any acid damage.
It still puts a lot of strain on your stomach so you could get a pulled stomach muscle.
I'm not sure though.

really really try hard to resist the temptation, because you know once you succeed you'll find it so hard to stop.
