OMG look at this My shrink is a criminal

http://www.eastbourne.gov.uk/sys_upl...DESC&OrderFld=

I had heard rumours.
I thought my friend was making it up but this is REALLY my shrink. No joke. he is a benefit fraud man! and I'm meant to trust and open up to him!?
And he is 'treating me' **** that he is sacked by me.
I really need no morer stress right now. I'm not even meant to be here.

Gosh, that's awful & it's no surprise you are going to sack him from working with you. It says in that article that his registration with medical council is in jeapordy anyway, so I wonder why he is still allowed to work? That is disgusting, and they are right saying that he was stealing from people who might genuinly need that money.

Blinking fool. [Him, not you]

I know he was suspended from work for 6 months but that was like a year or so ago.
His suspended sentance has been and gone.
Even so he doesn't deserve to work in this field as there is loss of trust.

i dunno how i feel about this.
yeah he broke the law.. but does that affect him really on a professional level.
If you felt that he was helping you.. why sack him?

Yes, maybe you dont trust him so much any more, but youre meant to see him on a purely patient, shrink basis.. and surely thats all that counts.

You may find it difficult to get another shrink.

hmm.. this is an interesting one, i shall be watching the replies.

But he has had it in the papers and so patients know and as I do find Benefit fraud totally unacceptable esp as so many have really low £. And this Dr who is a staff grade Dr he earns loads and has no reason to apart from being a lier and fraudster and I see this as a negative thing and I can't accept it.

Yes there is the patient/Dr bounderies but when his life is made public it is gonna affect ppl and move bounderies to some point.

Just hope my CPN is back tomorrow. Can discuss it with her.

I'm rather torn about what action I would take in your position. Yes he stole money from the Government and has taken his deserved punishment, yet this has nothing to do with his medical qualifications or his professional life.

Only a few weeks a go my sister discovered her dentist similarly was found guilty of fraud. His though took place within the workplace, he faked patients records to state more procedures had been carried out than the truth and falsifying documents for things like "lost false teeth" to get even more money. He got well over 50k doing this.

It was disgusting, that patients were being thrown into the line of fire so to speak to cover his back. Now this I would see as blatant mistrust and would never go back.

We are in a society that always crave more, money is one of the main causes of suicide, stress and many other illnesses. I have just watched a work "mate" run off with £800 of my companies money. It is just something we've been conditioned to crave.

At the end of the day what this man did was not putting you in danger, nor did he use you as a pawn in his game. He has paid his dues and I think if he's a good shrink I would stick with him.

What it boils down to in my opinion is that if he cared about his professional career, he would not have committed a crime. Simple as that. It may not be the most terrible crime, but it reflects his attitude towards his reputation and, dare I say, his morals.

I'd say you're totally justified in finding another shrink if you don't feel comfortable talking to him in the first place.

well, i have sown untidy furrows 'cross my soul,
but I am still a coward,
content to see my garden grow so sweet & full
of someone else's flowers.

Exactly, he can't have much desire for his job as he must've known he'd be caught.
