Borderline Personality disorder
Has anyone ever heard of this disorder or even suffer from it? I'm an inpatient at a pyschiatric hospital and the doctor has diagnosed me with it. I'm not sure what to think or feel about it at the moment. I feel kinda alone and confused

i've heard of it. from what i've been told, it's not really a personality disorder - it was named that before psychiatry got to grips with it. it's diagnosed by things like mood swings, chaotic relationships, self-harming/parasuicidal behaviour. dialectical behaviour therapy was developed to treat it specifically but it's difficult to get in the UK, though given that you're inpatient your chances are better. if not there's cognitive behaviour therapy which is pretty similar.
i hope that helped xxx

I have this diagnosis and its quite complex and i would reccomend you look up some information annd read up on it properly. Its diffferent for everyone but there do seem to be core traits such as si, unstable mood, black&white thinking, impulsive behaviour and difficulties with relationships.
Personality disorders are disorders with long standing , inflexible patterns of behaviour which affect functioning and develop over a long period of time, meking them entrenched and so often difficult to treat. But if you have been diagnosed it meand that now you will be given the right treatment. It took me being given this diagnosis to receive appropriate treatment, so its not all negative.
Don't feel alone, lots of us have this diagnosis. It is hard to manage but there is support. pm me if you want to talk about this more xxx

I too have this diagnosis. Was diagnosed abotu 3 years ago. Like has been said above it is extremely complex and i would reccommend some background reading on the subject, this will make it all less confusing.
Hope this helps,

I was diagnosed with this last March. They told me they'd diagnosed it because of my self harm, obsessive and impulsive behaviour, and my horrific mood swings.
I've not been given the help I was needed as they discharged me as an outpatient, and referred me to have group therapy. The group therapy never happened because I got there and they'd double booked me. I've never been back since, because I couldnt have dealt with the rejection a second time at that point in my life. That's changed now and I'm really tempted to go back.
Like everyone else has said it's definitley worth reading on, and CBT is meant to have really good results.
If you want to chat about it any more please do PM me
Sarah x
