Prozac

Just been put on it today and wondering about other people's experiences on it and if it helped? I know it doesn't effect everyone the same but would be nice to know more about it.
Thanks

I was on Prozac for about a year and then it got changed because it wasn't doing anything.
Like you said it reacts differently to every person; But i know a few people that have taken it/still take it, and it's really helped them.
Hope this helps. Take care.x

hey
I've been on it for about a month, and so far I don't feel any different, it just made me feel a bit sick for the first week or so.......I guess things are different for different people though.
Hope it works for you

I've been on it since Monday and I feel better already.

I was on Citalopram for about 8 months and it did nothing at all, so the other week I decided to come off it completely. Went through some horrible withdrawal symptoms and felt worse than I did in the first place, so my doctor put me on Prozac. Like I said, I've only been on it since Monday but it feels like 'something' has been lifted, and my head feels a lot clearer than it has done in ages. Not sure if it's my imagination though, as it's a bit early for the effects to kick in, isn't it? Or maybe it's just because I felt so awful having just come off the Citalopram. I dunno, but I like it.

Its different for everyone it seems
I was on Prozac (20mg) for about 7 weeks, was sh*t for me.
The only effect was insommnia and terrible nightmares.

I'm on Mirtazapine now, which is pretty good. I think.

My nurse in hospital told me that anti-depressants don't actually make you any less depressed weirdly enough,
Apparantly the effect they are supposed to have is to (in his words)
Make you care less<--- I'm not sure what that means
Maybe it lessens the more physical stressful symptoms of depression.
I know I can sleep more and better and I'm a bit less anxious on this one.
Meh, rambling now, who knows!

I have been on it twice first time it worked fairly well
but then I stopped taking it and I'm now back on it and if I'm honest has only made me worse. It seems to me it can be a bit hit and miss for people.

I really hope it works well for you :)

I hope you all find something that works for you if this hasn't.
I haven't had any side effects yet (I did feel really sick for a couple of days but I'm putting that down to a hangover) so I'm just waiting to see if it will work.

I only know one other person who gets this side effect but its worth mentioning: if I don't take my prozac with plenty of food I get the worst heartburn in eternity. there is a Reason they say to have it with meals. however to be fair I've only met one other person like that, but it still isn't worth risking.

effects-wise its kind of hard to notice it working as it boosts your mood slowly, however I thought it wasnt working, came off it and went right downhill, as it was very much working, just subtly.

take care, hope it works out for you.

Oh I had forgotten about that I did get that side effect first time I took it don't this time but the pharmacy seem to be getting it from a different source and the capsules are smaller. It was really unpleasent glad I don't have that any more

I was on 60mg of Prozac for almost a year, and it really didn't do a lot of good for me, and seemed to make my highs higher and my lows lower. When my doctor thought I may have bipolar she took me off it, and it decreased the highs and lows very very slightly, but not that much.

It didn't really do that much for me, but I know loads of people it's really helped.

Good Luck x

I am on 60mg Prozac and it has definately had a effect on me. I do feel tired a lot more than usual, but that is all I have experienced in the way of side effects.

It hasn't done anything for bulimia, but it has done a lot for my mood I think. I do feel more level. I am no longer not wanting to get out of bed and not able to function. Whether that is down to prozac or not I do not know, but I think it has something to do with it at least.

Anyway. I hope your experience turns out ok. If not there are many other meds you can try. You do not always get the med and dose right first time.
